Im looking at a Mac. What are the opinions out there about the Mac?

Can't go wrong with a Mac. I've been selling them for over 15 years and they have just got better and better. Especially in the past 5 years. You won't have to worry about viruses and spyware, everything just works so you can get on with the job you are doing on it. There's plenty of software available and plenty of support if needed.

In the past couple of years I have had a number of businesses ranging from building and construction companies to admin and human service businesses go from Windows computers to Mac. None of them would go back to Windows now even if you paid them!

And of course Macs work best with iPhones, iPads, printers, cameras etc. Just plug 'em in and they just work.

Give yourself a Mac for Christmas:D AusDave

Just picked up a Macbook Pro yesterday. This thing is so much faster than my old windows based machine. I was a bit apprehensive about learning the new operating system, but from some of the issues i have heard people having with windows 7 I didn't want to go that route. The mac operating system is pretty simple and so far I have been able to add the soft ware that I needed to and just go to work with it. You can run windows on a mac as well, and I am going to have to do that because some of the smaller ag companies that put out software don't have mac compatible programs. But It doesn't look like a real hardship. I asked around a bit before I purchased this one, and the the owner and front end clerk of local computer shop, that sells windows based machines, told me that I would be much happier with a Mac. Its what they use at home.

SO far, I wouldn't trade this machine back to a windows machine for anything.

I got my dad one (Toshiba of some kind)... Then I had to put up with him all day long complaining that it doesn't work, that it's junk and that his old one worked way better while I tried to set it up for him, then as soon as it was set up it was the slickest thing ever, why didn't we get him one sooner, it's so much better than the old one, etc... So I guess he's happy!

Now I've just have to get my wife on board. I'm really ready to buy one but she would have a fit if I did. I think that If I did buy one I probably wouldn't get her hands off of it then I'd have to buy another one. Then ditch the piece of crap (PC)

Timely thread for me...

I've been relatively satisfied with my Dell laptop over it's 4 year life..... bought a new battery (again) about 2 months ago... and about 2 days ago it decides that if I choose to unplug it (from the holes (electricity)), then it just shuts down. Maybe just a battery issue... or an internal charger issue...

and the keyboard screws up sometimes.... So I'm pondering a new little machine too.

Honestly, hadn't even considered a Mac, but maybe I should.

Does it run Excel, Quickbooks, Word like a pc? Those are the main things I use to run my biz, and need to be able to access/use those old docs.

What Mac machines are you using? Aren't mac people supposed to be gay? just askin....

Stevenbrla, There is a Quickbooks for Mac, and they do sell a Microsoft Office for Mac as well. I don't have the quick books but it do have office and it works great. It seems to be a lot quicker at loading your work. You can also run windows on a mac if you have programs that will only run in windows. Your mac sales people would be able to tell you all about it.

I received a new HP laptop with a 17.3 screen. For me it is to big to use in vehicle. I really don't care for Windows 7 after having XP. I don't like the way my files are arranged in Win 7. Also I think the new search function and the results it produces is pathetic. I am considering removing Windows 7 and installing a OEM version of Windows XP Pro in it. My daughter has a new MacBook and after looking at it I would seriously consider getting one if I had to get another laptop.
