I'm kinda with Tiny: I have a '68 1/2 ton I'm gonna restore (one day), a '70 C-90 that still works hard, just not every day; and an '86 C-30 that is my daily driver service truck.

stupid commercials

To each their own.I think they're pretty witty.Actually, just a few hours ago,I sort of took a page out of Max and Al's book by chaining my Dmax to a huge evergreen bush at my GF's house,no iron handy to do it the easy way.So I ask her to watch to make sure everything's ok as I apply the coals. So I can tell it's coming out of the ground, way bigger than I thought though and then I see the deck start raising with her standing on it.The bigger roots were wrapped around a huge rock which was under the deck.Knocked the rock away and she ripped right out of the ground.Should have videoed it.

I think there funny, but could be better.

One of the diesel junkies I know dyno'ed his 2011 and it put down 355 RWHP stock. Pretty good the 06-07s did 320-300 stock so the the new ones are a little under rated.

How does everyone like their chevy diesels? i am looking at an 07 3500 model with the utility body. i am concerned with the suspension (from my last chevy experience) and am not sure it will haul as nicely as the fords i am running now. any input???
I like that commercial, although like i said i have never pictured chevys being "tough work trucks". Always imagine them as a homeowner version of a truck, but i am willing to have my mind changed!!! No offense by the way :drinkup
Also, what kind of fuel economy are you all getting???

Does it have a new body style or the old one? The new style don't get very good mileage thanks to the EPA unless you get a '11+. I don't know of any real complaints. You might need air bags to handle the weight better and if you use the 4WD hard there are some components that could use some strengthening. There ain't many people that aren't happy with them seen them with 500K+ without a major failure. Just look at the resale they holding there value very well. I have seen over 22MPG if I drive my truck nice its a 06 3/4ton.

this is the body style just before the current one, if that makes sense! Is it easier to do airbags or have another leaf installed in the springs?

It really doesn't matter if it's the Classic[same as a 2006 and back]body or the newer style as the suspension hasn't changed until the 2011's which are a complete different animal.Barklee, your perception of GM trucks is completely flawed-they are serious work trucks.Yes, a Ford has a beefier suspension stock than GM, up to the new 2011 GT9000 platform, but GM's is more than adequate, without the constant replacement of ball joints, brakes, steering parts that has plagued Ford.My 2006 3500 SRW Dmax with Ally now has 110K miles on her,all original front end parts, front brake pads were replaced at 90K miles with app. 75% left, changed out only because of scratched rotors.I supplemented the front suspension with a slight torsion bar twsting[4 turns] and installed Airlift jounce bumpers. The rear got Airlift airbags. The truck is the smoothest running beast you can imagine--it will do just about anything.I plow with a 1K lb. Boss Vplow and have a 2 yd. salter in the rear, typically about 4500 lbs. loaded.I average 16 MPG empty if I behave.I have a friend in the landscape biz who has 3 Ford trucks and has seen the light, completely disgusted with premature failures and extremely high repair costs at the stealer,so he's made the commitment to come over now to the dark side.;)

I haven't seen the commercials, but

I have two of these trucks, 2500 HD Z71 and they pull very well and are very fun to drive with plenty of power to spare. They drive like a truck and are pretty stiff. May be the 20" rim/tire combo and the heavier springs.

My best mileage so far was 21.7 at 65mph on cruise control. The urea reservoir on the one I daily drive lasted 5000 miles. Got about 6000 miles logged on that one now. The other one is still well under 5000 miles total on it so don't know much about that one yet on mileage figures since I'm letting my salesman drive that one. So I guess I'm burning around 1 gallon of urea per 1000 miles. I have a pretty heavy foot. Heavy foot mileage averages about 15.5mpg.

a few pics. One has the 20's on it and the other came with 17's. Nice trucks overall. Lots of compliments from the ford and dodge guys.

I don't know anyone that has added a leaf since they use them to tow and don't want a harsh ride empty. I don't know that you will need them just depends on how much you load it down.

It really doesn't matter if it's the Classic[same as a 2006 and back]body or the newer style as the suspension hasn't changed until the 2011's which are a complete different animal.

I only mention body style since the new body style 07-10 get worse mileage then the rest.

Nice trucks there Serv.I would love to get one of these new animals.Funny, that what Ford did with that late 12th hour upgrade on HP and torque to their new 2011's for bragging rights did them absolutely no good in the real world. The Dmax out pulled them on the mountains on the truck trials out West pretty bad.Just sucks with that expensive urea tank though.Think I'll wait until somebody comes out with a'' fix'' for that.;)
