That pic of the Coleman stove in the bucket says it all for me.Grub never tastes as good anywhere else after that.Swap that cigar for a crooked stem pipe and that would be me.I smoked Carter Hall for 40 years.I quit in 2002 and found about 60 lbs I didn't know I had.LOL.Ron G

Nice action pics. Running the machines without a cab always seemed more fun. I miss the old 580B with no cab that I used to run from time to time. I wasn't any good at running it but it was always fun.

There is just something about the open air and the fact that you are not tied to a dwelling in any way while you make your stomach happy that sticks in your mind forever.
We used to take a pound of bacon with us on fishing trips to eat if we didn't catch any fish or to grease the frying pan with to fry up some nice brook trout if we caught some.
My goodness,what a feast!!Ron G

seems many american men can operate the heavy duty machines and build your homes.
I didn't know this!

Here is our tired old Case 580B I don't know how many hours are on this machine being as that stopped working long ago. It developed some transmission problems so we decided to replace it with something a bit newer.

Our "new" machine is a 1997 (I think) Case 580 Super L Series 2 with cab heat/air, 4x4, extend-a-hoe, auxiliary hydraulics, air ride seat, stereo with cd player, and ride control. Using this machine compared to the old is like a dream!

After a very COLD day in December of '05 using the old 580B to unload railroad ties, I don't miss the open cab any more. The bad thing about this day is that we had to road the machine about 8 miles to unload a second truck because the truck we were using to trailer it decided to gel up it was so cold! But, I do have to say it was a very reliable old machine. We took her everywhere and she didn't complain too much!

Nice Case backhoes, upbrakie. The old Case 580B was a pretty good machine back in the day, and you still see alot of them around. I have a Case 580SE 4x4 and its a good machine. Just wonder what kinda of work do you do ?? and that a pretty good load for the 580B.

That is prolly too much for the ol' B. But she could surprise you sometimes. I can't claim either machine as my own but they belong to an operating historical railroad I help out with (I did introduce myself in the new member area). I have a pretty good attatchment to the Super L as I was the one who did the leg work to find her. We bought her some new shoes and added an aux hydraulic circuit for handheld hydraulic tools.

This is the 310 SG I am running right now. Its just a temp job while Im looking for something, but its a pay check so I cant complain for being only 19. I learned on and always ran CASE machines, but I love this thing. I dont remember who I took the second pic for but I had to get rid of my truck for something a bit more fuel efficient so I could afford to get to the job and back. Sad day indeed :'(

My old '55 Ford

Just got this about 2 weeks ago.
1955 Ford 850 Has a 172 ci gas engine, 5 speed trans with a Pippin model 116 hoe and a Ford / Dearborn model 10-97 bucket loader. Runs really sweet but I do have some issues with the hoe. Tends to sink down if left all the way up.
