Any one out there running Ro Gators or Terra Gators for a living?
Sorry I'm late to the party again, but it's run n gun season again.
We're trying to finish up our wheat top dress season, while we finally have a dry week of running. We've done well running on frost at night this winter, but have had many calls of late to go ahead and topdress the late planted short wheat that's coming in now that the weather has finally warmed up.Trouble now is the corn is ready to go in,and now we're still running wheat, putting down fertilizer ahead of corn planting, doing some burn down, putting down herbicide behind planters, and very soon the bugs will be out in the alfalfa.
Don't spend much time in a floater anymore these days. Funny how hard work lands you in management these days. For the time-being I'm still running the limegator we built, but will be training a replacement this year. We'll see how that goes,I don't want to give that rig up. She's my baby,no matter how frankenstiened she is.
What would you like to know, pistons? The auto-steer is cool, but we're just getting into the auto-booms. Now that's some cool chit. 90' of booms divided into 5-7 sections that each auto shut off and turn on by GPS,as you cross into zones that have already been covered or not. Badazz on point rows running ground with a lot of waterways or wild boundary creek-bottoms. Yup, the days of turning around at the end of the field, and picking out a fence post to steer at on your next pass are over.
We're running 7 terragator floaters and no AG Chem rowgators. So far haven't been too impressed with the durability of their row machines, but they'll be coming around soon to stay competitive. Are trying out a new Johndeer rig this year, jury's still out but looking good.
