I was wondering if any one has had any experience selling eqpt. on E-Bay? I have a little JCB 212 with 1680 hours and I love it, it is a open cab. I ran on to another JCB 212 with a cab, that I have always wanted, so now like a kid in a candy store, I've got to sell one. I was wondering about E-Bay? Some one said that if I do list it that it should be listed with no resserve and if it dont bring what I want to have a fried bid on it, so I dont give it away. He said if I set a "buy it now" I wont get a bid that high, unless I have a "buy it now" price higher than what I want. I have also condsidered Eqpt. trader. I was wondering how most of you have listed your eqpt. and what sucess you have had. I know now is a bad time to sell eqpt. and prices in the crapper. But this is always a high dollar hoe when I do see one for sale, which is seldom. They seem to bring more than a full size hoe.

You could always post a classified ad on ebay. I wouldn't bother with the bidding games. Any serious buyer will figure out what's going on. If you re-list it, bid prices will be even lower than the first auction.

I think you do need a reserve on it.If not then if you get a bid for a $100 and no body bids higher then the $100 bid gets it.

there are a few thing you need toconsider before trying to sell it on ebay.

I often shop ebay for deals and ask a good amount of questions , are you ready to answer a few questions daily? Shipping is the big thing , if you can offer a quote and willing to help out with loading . No shipping help you may as well stick to craigs list. Its hit or miss in this market , there are a pile of good machines for sale , some over priced. the hard part is finding the right person to spend there money on yours. A friend of mine has 4 excavators and 2 skid steers for sale since last fall , price is fair not over market value. EXAMPLE: he has a 2007 case CX130 excavator with less then 200 hours and with the ballance of a factory warrenty (purchaced in july 2009) , He wants $75,000 for it ,retail was $110000 new and he is open to resonable offers. It still has the plastic on the seat and not a scratch on it , cab heat ac.

Your machine sounds like what i was looking for 6 months ago , but have since picked up a jcb 1110t. Qucik question , does yours start ok at zero*f ? basicly the same motor in your hoe and may skid steer.

Have you tried to sell threw Craigs list? its free and you will be suprised how many interested responces you get. Its all in the price and dont be shy post some pictures!

Yes. I just posted it on Craigs list. Cols Ohio, with pictures. I know it is still earley in the year and things will start moving, (if they are going to move at all with this economy) in a month or so. I was just trying to cover all my options in getting it sold. I sold another backhoe a few years ago in Eqpt. Trader but I thought I might get better coverage on E-Bay. And yes in 0 weather, it takes a shot of either to get it started. It has been kept inside since I have owned it so no problem in starting it.

I've got a New Holland LB75B for sale now on eBay. Am using a classified ad. Have had two lookers examine it. Both wanted to buy but were having trouble with financing. Banks don't seem to want to finance construction equipment right now.

I have talked to my local John Deere dealer and am going to just let them sell it on consignment. Seems to me that people are often willing to pay more at a dealership than from an individual. Also they can finance through John Deere credit at a good interest rate.

How is the best way and cheapest to advertise it? Would like to advertise it on Craigs list in different large cities or states, but I guess Craigs lilst will block it if it is not in your area. What about advertising on Fastline. ? Any suggestions appreciated. Advertiseing in local paper is a waste of money.

Craigslist has been best for me by far selling anything. I get multiple responses within a day and most stuff sold by the following weekend. I list in my area and when responses slow down ill delete my ad and repost it in the same area or the next closest.

I agree 100%, just keep deleting and re posting, seems like most people just looks at current posting.
I have no problem posting in another State. I do try to keep it in a good distance from home, say like no more than 2-3 hrs
We have a local Bargain Trader magazine in my area, its about 50 pages and comes out weekly. You can list anything you have for sale. I have sold a bunch of stuff in this magazine.
Good Luck, its hard to sell stuff right now, its even hard to give it away

Craigs list ! In my area I have two or three states to advertise under RI, MA, NH . the key is take differnt photos , dont post the same photo in any two adds , word the ad differnt. EX: Low hours , 16xx hours , clean below average hours. Let someone call for exact info the other adds use your work number ,cell number , work phone number . They will not remove your adds as long as they are not the same.

xcmark: Enlighten me a little bit. For example I post in Cols. Oh. on Craigs list. I would like to post in Cleveland or Cinci. Maybe even Pittsburg. It wont accept my lilsting. So what do I have to do. Cancel my ad in Cols. , before it will take my ad in another state or city?

Just sold it. Had it on Craigs list for awhile, not much response. Put it on E-Bay. (a waste of money) I was asking $16500 on e-bay with a starting bid of $14. I didnt even get a bid. Different ones called and offered me $10 and $12. I just laughed at them. I had it listed for $16 on Craigs list. A dealer would have probably asked around $17 or $18. It did not have a enclosed cab and that is what hurt it but if it had, I wouldnt be selling it and you wouldnt get it for $17. I had run on to one with a cab, same year, 1000 more hours. I bought it so put this one up for sale. It was just a matter of finding the right person who wanted it and needed it. A fellow called me and asked what I would take for it. I said $15. He come down and looked at it and didnt even bat a eye. Took it on the spot. I think he would have paid $16, he was so happy. He was about 50 miles from me so I made $100 to deliver it. I guess I get nervous when I have a piece of equipt to sell and it doesnt sell in a week or two. Sometimes you just have to hang onto it till the right person comes along, and with this economy it might be a long time.
