This thread really is a stroll down memory lane.My father was an excavating contractor in Eastern Massachusetts. He bought a real nice 641 that Cat had done a lot of major component work to at the request of the owner who then defaulted. It went for short money because in these parts it was considered too big.631's being the norm.We had an earthen dam project in Cohasset mass.creating a 300 acre reservoir .We used 2 210 michigans and the 641.The D9 would overpower the 210's to the point that we could 'nt raise the pan .The 9 wasn't really enough on the 641.We had a 380 michigan rubber tired dozer to layout and compact the fill.Heavy machine, probably 45-50 ton wirth a 12v71 detroit motor. One day we double pushed using the 9 and the 380,(had a push block on the back)That was sick. That 641 to us ,was just walking in tall cotton. We had an operator who was just fearless.I'd give him alotta room cause he was always just highballin'it. That machine moved a lot of dirt for short money.
