My low hrs Cat 262B seems to have a blind spot in the joystick controls...at about 10 o clock it pauses briefly(like missing a gear) and then kicks in to steer left. Can anybody help???

This issue is hesitation in the steering. It is cause by the resolvers in the resolverblock sticking. This is a pretty common issue with Cat skid-steers. Fairly simple part to replace if you want to do it yourself.

BruceJ,

Remove the plastic console by taking out the 4 screws that hold it in; the 4 screws are on the side of the steel bracket that supports the control and valving. It takes some wiggling but the console will come out. You will now be able to see your pilot lines and the control valve. Pretty no nonsense getting that control valve out, use common mechanic sense (mark your lines ap and plug 'em). From there you can disassemble the valve. There is a service letter for this issue, though I am not sure if it is still current. Keep us posted

Yes sir, the resolver block is located under the joystick. If you will raise the loader frame and install the lock so it cant drift down on you it makes it easier to access. From there, remove the cab mounting bolts 15/16 socket should do the trick. Then a 4mm allen should be able to remove the 4 screws that hold the plastic console on. Once the console is removed this will expose the pilot valve itself. The resolver block resembles a larger gold colored hockey puck, all of the hyd lines are directly connected to it. to removed the lines youll need a 11/16, and 15/16 open end wrench. If youll remove the line that is 15/16 first and immedietly plug it off you will loose the least amount of oil. Go ahead and mark all of the lines and disconnect them. There will also be one electrical connection that will need to be disconnected. When all the hyd lines and and electrical plug are all disconnected your ready to remove the resolver block itself. It is held on only by one allen head screw, its either a 5 or a 6mm, i cant exactly remember, this screw is located on the bottom of the resolver block with all of the hyd fittings. Youll have to feel around for it or use a mirror to locate it. Once the screw is removed, a couple of taps with a hammer and itll come right off. once its off all of the hyd fittings and the the pressure switch have to be removed from the failed resolver block and installed into the new one. This can be done with a 3/4, 1'', and 30mm. make sure you inspect all of the seals to ensure that there wont be any leaks. I would probably recomend goin ahead and changin them while your there. also youll notice that there are some seals between the resolver block and the pilot have. I would recomend purchasing this seal kit also. Ive found it easiest to install these seals into place with grease on them to keep them from movin around on you untill you get the dowel lined up and the screw installed and tightened. From this point all you have to do is re assemble everything. make sure to check your hyd oil level once you get it running again. Hope this helped you out, im sure i went overkill on the info, but i figured that more info was better than not enough. feel free to ask if you have any further questions.

Nice work Rebeldude. I'll be honest, I was too lazy to do the whole write up. Do you happen to work for a dealer?

Sure I can get you some part numbers, but could I get your serial number so that I can make sure to get you the correct part numbers? I'll get numbers for the resolver block, seal kit, and seals. Sound good? And to answer your question I do work at a dealer. If you can think of anything else you need, dont hesitate to ask.
