Doing a little TLC to the dozer today and noticed this "T" handle thingy with a strange shape on the end that lives in a compartment with the battery. Can't even imagine what it is used for :beatsme .

Any ideas?

Why would I need to turn the fan blades?

If the machine is equipped with reversible fan blades, (not all machines are) you can change the direction the fan moves the air. Blowing through the radiator, blows hot air and dust away from you. Pulling through the radiator blows warm air (and dust) back on you in the winter. I made a similar tool by cutting a notch in a socket. Hope this helps. :drinkup

+1
We had a similar style tool for our open cab D6C's fan. It is pretty handy when the season changes...as long as the fan blades aren't seized into place.

Okay - and now we have the rest of the story. Thanks! I'll have to look/feel to see which way mine are turning.

I wouldn't worry about it, It doesn't get cold enough in Texas to need to blow hot air back on you. :D:D
