It depends on what your used to but it seems like your not going to have much of a choice in up coming models, everything it going to electric. Currently I run all fuel oil on cat 10-20 screeds, they have some quirks and you have to know enough to shut off the burners so you do't warp the plates.

Not all big pavers have electric heated screeds, some of the brand that makes smaller pavers like Leeboy, and Bomag have electric screed heaters on some of their models.Electric screed heaters actually work very efficiently and reduces warping on screed plates and heats very evenly. Some of the pavers like Caterpillar have onboard power generators as optional features and that allows you power electric heated screeds and portable nighttime paving lighting units and or even a toaster oven all at once.

even the leeboys are all going electric, just got back from world of asphalt and talked to them about it. We don't have any problem with warped screed plates but I've see county guys leave burners on all day  they can get messed up fast if you don't know what your doing. We demo'd a carlson easy IV with electric and my guys didn't care for it, but to each their own, we'll buy fuel oil until they stop making them. Propane isn't an option for the larger machines, but you can get it for leeboy, bomag, neil, gehl, etc. I guess you can get after market setup to convert fuel oil to propane, but I've never seen anyone do it. As for the toaster oven, no thanks, I've seen what Old Castle's machines look like after a year and would have no desire what-so-ever to put food into one of them.
