well it would be more gooder if the rest of the states adopted the CA rules. But then again i look and see what their doing out there in new York and it boggles my mind what they get away with on 5 axles.

I live on Long Island, NY. What kind of loads are mind boggling. I'll try to get some picks of some scary loads for you

Chaz that fixed neck is a very nice looking trailer, you guys do a good job on the type of trailers that you build. You can see pride in workmanship along with the attention to detail, nice job keep up the good work.

Finlay got some pics of my old truck, the first two are of a PC while waiting for the pilot car to show up before going up to the geysers geothermal plant, the second two are of a 613 scraper that went from Sacramento to Santa Rosa. In the last pic I didn't even haul anything to the job site. They just brought me in to load the man lifts onto my trailer, back up to the building and use my tail to get them up onto the platform.

not bashing here but you have to have a pilot for PC over here we can run up to 3.5 (11.48 ft ) meters with just over size sings and flags

That load normally wouldnt require a pilot car but the road it was going up is not a good one. I took that picture in a turn out after I got off of the highway and had to wait for pilot to go any further. My permits stated that I could be up to 14 feet wide with no pilot car going down the highway but there are different rules for different roads.
One job we were moving required three 9axle moves and I only used a pilot car on one of them. On pretty much all roads if you are under twelve feet and can keep the truck trailer and load on your side of the center lane you are good to go, but if you have to cross that line even once on a road it requires a pilot car.
The road to the geysers is a very steep and twisty road with many places being only one lane and it actually requires a police for all oversized loads, even if your only over by an inch, so we were still outlawing it a little bit;). The geysers covers thousands of acres and they have thier own set of rules. Many of thier roads have grades over 20% and you spend alot of time in first gear. Many drivers have made the trip up there and refuse to go back, a few have even had to have someone else come get thier truck and drive it down. It is a whole different world up there and you definately have no room for mistakes.

If you're talking Durango, Co, I have to say you earned your money on that one. Last time I was in Durango was in the early 70's. Took a "shortcut" from NM to get to Rifle , Co moving some strucural steel into the power plant that was being built in Rifle at the time. Looked like a good route to me on tha map. Got a good history lesson that trip on Hwy 550.
Nice pics, cept that second one is going to run off tha paage if ya don't chock tha wheels. :D
