I shot this 988 just north of Riggins, ID on Highway 95 last Sunday. I was trying to get a few more shots, but my batteries died on me.
Must be cheaper than a lowboy!

Nice, definately a more timely and cost effective way to move it.

I take it you've left WA and are back in ID working? Staying busy?

In some states they won't issue you a wide/over weight load permit for the weekend. So I guess if you need to move something like this 988H on the weekend.........you just road it!

LOL, that's what a boss of mine used to think too, until we got caught. The really funny part is, he would think the same thing again not long afterward, and it would work for a while, then we'd get busted again. He never failed to be right choked up every time we got caught though. Roading 651Es down the Yellowhead highway, or 992Cs through town in Nanaimo, etc, etc.

Sure makes oncoming traffic nervous, especially with the teeth right about eye level for a car.

I must admit it would look better/safer with the bucket a bit lower and a couple of pilot vehicles with beacons probably wouldnt go a miss, unless he was trying to keep it low key and inconspicuous

Yea, but Rob, if they can't see that 988 coming, I don't think they would see a little old pilot car either.

:lmao very true, its just a lot easier sorting out the paperwork for a knock between a pilot car and somebody else than between a very large um! digger, um!........ big yellow ....um!......crane thingy... officer ! besides if there is a knock you sure as hell dont want to still be there in a 988 when plod shows up. ;)

If the car drivers where you are are anything like those around here they just don't seem to understand how big somethings are in relation to themselves. I remember transporting a H400, as big or even a little bigger that this 988H, a few years ago. We did have to have lead and follow cars with yellow flashing lights. Some of the idiots in the cars would pass the follow car and pull right up behind that loader so close the operator had no idea they were there. Then pullout and pass like they were passing a little VW! Glade we were only moving it around 35 miles any more and some jerk would have probably got themselves squished!

Just had a thought, maybe it was being stolen? People have done crazier things in the past.

Glad it was out west if this had been in Central New York I'd be running up to the shop to make sure ours was still tucked in for the weekend like when I left!
