My buddy sent me this link... http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=489_1249330964

**spoiler** It's definitely an unconventional car wash and not easy to explain to your insurance agent. Since it's set up as a hoe, not a shovel, I figured the Excavator forum was the right place to ask... does anyone recognize what model it is? My guess, based entirely on the location of the stairs, was either an R9250 or R9800 but it's a heck of a difference between 15 m^3 and 42 m^3 for bucket size!

I was doing some back-of-the-envelope calculations figuring it's 200 gallons per cubic yard... I guessed 250 gallons per cubic meter, but it turns out to be nearly 265. That means they dump either 4000 gallons or 11000 gallons... Yowza! **/spoiler**

Thanks & enjoy the video!

The announcer said that the small excavator dumped 1000 liters and the 9800 dumped 10000 liters which is ~250-275 gallons and 2500-2750. The 9800 had a 10cubic meter bucket. My German is meager at best. The final comparison was the 9800's water fall to Victoria Falls in Africa. At best mans creation was like a teaspoon filling the ocean.

You are right chief.
Spoke to my Thiess man this morning and she is definately sitting at Burton awaiting assembly.
Cheers.

Thanks for the update ! Since I saw it at the factory in colmar, I'm awaiting pictures of it at the mine. Having saw some EX5500' this summer, I can sure you it's a far much igger excavator !

I can also confirm that this is true, I was talking to a Liebherr rep who was project managing the 996 builds at Moolarben Coal (New Coal mine starting in Mudgee, NSW, Australia) who told me that the 9800's are going to Burton Coal in QLD. They were always going to Thiess, it was just a matter of finding room in their exisiting fleet. There have been several rumours about the the new home for these excavatros, one of which was that they were goin to Newcrest's Telefer Mine in WA.

My original guess was that it would go to Mt Owen as Thiess had there largest trucks there, i think the first ever 996 was at Burton for Thiess back in 95/96 so ironic 13 years later Thiess and Liebherr break new ground again in large mining excavator at the same mine.

There was solid talk it was going to Telfer but i would think the mine changed direction and that stopped it so off to QLD, have heard Theiss maybe buying big trucks of there usual kind.
