I am trying to educate myself on some basics
of Bobcat Skid Steer Loader attachments,
to assist a friend with an equipment purchase.

I searched online for this information,
but could not find a simple guide.

Vehicle: Bobcat S150

Questions:

-What brand are the best quality hydraulic breakers ?
BTI & Hammeroc ?

-Which hydraulic breaker models are appropriate for a Bobcat S150 ?
Hammeroc HR50 ?

-The breaker is mounted on the Skid Steer Loader by attaching it to a mount plate, correct ?

-How do I determine which mount plate is compatible for the S150 and a specific breaker ?

-What brand are the best quality Palette Forks ?

-Which Palette Fork models are appropriate for a Bobcat S150 ?

Excuse my ignorance, and thanks for any advice.

Martin.

There are many good breakers out there. I am currently using an Okada, I like it. BTI is a good name as well as Stanley, Kent and others. I would not go over a 500 pound breaker with such a small machine. All the mounting plates are interchangeable with all current machines. As far as pallet forks, it wont really matter, you don't have the capacity to stress forks made from any reputable OEM.

Have you looked at the bobcat brand products??? They are good quality and i've also heard that other brand rockbreakers have caused problems with the system because of to much back preasure.

ditto what ksss said that there are many good brands.

i'd go heavier on the hammer out to about 1100lb mounted. pretty much any mount plate except any one that fits a toyota.

i have a bobcat hb980 breaker, mounted using an xchange mount, all up it weighs about 1100lb, ideally for the S150 you'd use the HB880 if going new though i have had clients use the HB980 on a 743 and it worked well enough though a bit slow through lack of oil flow.

re forks, your machine is rated at 1500lb lift capacity, consider the weight of the forks plus what you are trying to lift.... ie don't assume you need super duty forks.

universal sizes ?

So mount plates are generally universal ?
A generic mount plate that I buy for a S150
will fit most hydraulic breaker attachments,
and also fit onto a S220 or S330 ?

Is the same true for palette forks,
most will attach to any Skid Steer machine ?

I am planning to buy the equipment used.

Thanks, M.

Yes, a breaker that will fit on a S150 will also fit a T320, as well as any current CAT, CASE, Deere etc. Same holds for pallet forks.

When you purchase a breaker just make sure that the flow from the BC are compatible with the flow that the breaker needs for optimum performance.

martin, maybe i dont understand you but its the attachment side that is universal. afaik the mount will be made specifically for whatever breaker it is but you should be able to hook it up to most machines. do i make sense?

the bobcat range from (definitely) the S100 to the S330 all use the same sized mounting plate tho obviously the attachment hitch for the 330 is a bit heavier spec than the S100 hitch.

so i can use my forks on the S100 and the S330.

your S150 should kick out about 16gpm at 3000 psi from memory, a hammer that needs 25 gpm is not going to work very well for you.

what you need to know is the flow rate required by the hammer and at what pressure and what your S150 puts out.

one of the sites, perhaps skidsteerattahments, has a page that lists what fits what. the short answer is everything except for some really really old machnes and anything toyota.

toyota in their infinite wisdom not only use a totally different system but it is not compatible across their models - what fits the sdk4 wont fit the sdk8. insanity :Banghead
