I find the thinking behind using non genuine decals an absolute joke, in fact it is one of my biggest pet hates in this game. Not once have i ever seen a non genuine decal that has the correct font size, shape or both. People automatically assume they are cheaper and if any one actually bothered to check you may be surprised. My logic comes from this, if you are willing to go cheap on the outside what i can clearly see how cheap have you gone on the internals what i can,t see. These decals are often associated with a machine getting sold and having a dulux rebuild aswell and it scares the crap out of me, i am just glad i do not purchase gear.

Sure some decals are no longer available and i understand that.

I think the next worst thing to see and it associates with decals as well is using a more modern style decal on a mchine that was never produced in the era of the decal style, the previous version than the current Cat style comes to mind big time.

Any way that is my rant on it and flame away if you like but as i said a real pet hate of mine

Gavin, your point does have merit, since, aftermarket decals cannot possibly be totally accurate to OEM decals. But you must consider this; for the independent machine owner who is operating on a tight budget, yet, want's his equipment to look good with the funds he has at his disposal, the aftermarket decals offer a viable comprimise by saving money out of his wallet compared to OEM decals. After all, the OEM suppliers don't exactly "give" there dacals away. :)

Since your around MD/VA there is a place called Graphic Solutions Of Va. The girls name is Cheryl. She is the daugher of a worker for Joe Gomer (may have heard of him) and she makes all of his decals and what not. We have ordered a lot of stuff from her within the past year and she does excellent work! Just beware.. her one fault we have found so far is she doesn't cut the outside paper straight, so you have to straighten it yourself. She usually gets them out pretty darn quick and gets them to you in about a day or two if your in VA. She's located in Ashland right off of RT 1.

Here is their email
gsvainc@aol.com

Hope this helps!

Any of the suppliers noted in this thread should be able to make whatever decal you want, and may even have ones that you mentioned already in their system. If you have a sample decal, take a pic of it, measure the dimensions, and email it to them. I do this with my vendor all the time. ;)

There was a company from Australia at Con Expo last year that sold generic decals for misc. things like grease points, tie downs, etc. I remember talking to them because we were wanting English decals for our gray market loader, maybe if I have a few drinks and roll some dice I will remember the company:drinkup. Also you can check with a local decal company, the one we use for our equipment graphics has made us some warning decals for our air compressors, like "Be sure to chock wheels", etc.

Whaz up Red Bank. Are you talking about decals that are in Japanese? I run across this frequently. I've found a fellow in California to do translations for me. I take a good, clean pic of the decal, email it to him, and he sends me back a word document of the translation in english. Then I send pics of the Jap decal and the translations to Brent and he prints me the decals in English. :)

Hey Atco!, yes the decals are Japanese or Chinese, I am not sure. I was suppose to be taking care of that, but I have let it slip. If the Boss gets back on that kick again I will email you to get the info, since we are looking at new loaders I hope he will forget, but that might refresh his memory!

No problem, I'll hook you up with Osaka San. He's translated some tricky decals for me. And, of course, he does charge per character, as most do. But I expect to have to pay any person for their skilled services. Even then, the cost hasn't been excessively high. I've been very satisfied with his work so far. On the other hand, I'd say Brent has wanted to choke me at times, sending him a pic of a Jap lubrication chart and a Word document of "here's what it says in English", make me a decal. :Banghead But he's been a real trooper and we've produced some good looking "English" decals. ;)

English?

I will have to contact the suppliers mentioned. I bought a set of decals for one of my cranes recently to the tune of almost $1000 bucks i almost hit the floor when i found out the cost.

i know Ritchie brothers has their own decal shops that work in tandem with their aerosol overhaul bays
