The movie "The Real Dirt on Farmer John" is well worth watching. You can see a trailer on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0egeHh1_Sb4

The movie is quite inspiring as it charts the slow failure of a family farm and the good news story of how they reversed it. The farm is an organic farm and that's what has been a major part of its success as well as involving the nearby city which I think was Chicago.

Anyway check it out and you may be able to get someone from Angel Organics or similar to come out to your place and give you some good, experienced advice on how to achieve a profitable organic farm on your acres. With the right crops and planning you could be on a winner going organic.
