Perkins Nozzle Numbers - Interchangeable ?

I am replacing (trying to) the injector nozzles on my backhoe that has the Perkins 4.236 engine non turbo. It appears that there are several different part numbers listed for that Perkins engine and am having trouble figuring out which one is the right one for it. For example. the numbers i am seeing are the ones starting with 2645K6009, 2645K002and 2645A608 etc. My question is: if it says its for a Perkins 4.236 will it work in my Cat 426 regardless of the number? Thanks for any help on this. BTW, i try using the original part number in my parts manual of 7W6234 and get nothing on it that helps.

The Perkins # is the ENGINE MODEL..
Your Cat # is the MACHINE MODEL..
U have to find your ENGINE MDL..

On a CAV/Delphi injector, the number is usually stamped into the body.. on the backside.

yes, found that out when looking for injectors. Trying to get them in house before i pull the old ones so i wont have too much down time. So much for planning. Thanks for that info. Where would the engine model be? I know the machine serial number but that does not help much.

With the machine Serial Number I can probably find the engine details. 7BC-something I assume.?
Nige, thanks for your input but i have it all done now. Nozzles were good. I was grasping at straws BC nothing else worked. Read my explanation below.

Ok i finally got this thing started and it such a bizarre event that i was hesitant about posting it, but i thought what if someone else had that problem? They would surely need to know. I spent countless hours on this thing trying to make it run with no results and was ready to give up and sell it for scrap. I even had a mechanic come try to start it and he gave up. So today i was just finishing up and was ready to have my friend tow it out of the middle of my drive. We decided that we would try to lift the boom by using starter to turn pump to lift boom so we could chain it in place. I turned the key and starter was going like crazy and i pulled the lever to lift boom AND THE ENGINE STARTED as soon as i pulled the lever. I was so shocked i let lever go and ENGINE DIED. Now thats crazy. So tried it again but this time i used bucket lever and it started again. I kept the lever in up and engine was running and then the tractor kind of shuddered and i let go the lever and it kept running. Used it several hours and its still running. SO, can anybody tell me exactly why this worked that way? I can only surmise that the pump was in some kind of hydrostatic lock?

Stuck loader hyd. valve putting the engine under load would make it hard or impossible to start. Check the linkage and/or valve is moving freely.

Hey @Rocket Man , if you decide to sell for scrap let me know. I will buy some parts off you first.
LOL. I had some bad thoughts about this thing while i was trying to get it started. I was convinced that the motor had cratered and i would just have to piece it out. BUT, then the pull on the boom lift and the machine started changed all that. Welder Dave hit the nail on the head with his post.

Well i am sure that was exactly what the problem was BC when i pulled the boom lever it started and when i let go it died. would not start again until i pulled the lift lever on bucket and it started right away. Strange thing was , the mechanic used the old gasolene on a rag trick and the motor would spin and TRY to start but never would. Another point here is when i turn wheels to sharp and they lock in place, left or right, the motor would die. I never connected all this, just thought it was normal. Thanks for your input, it answered my question.
