park brake problems

I have a 297C cat skid steer that the park brake will not pull off when I hit the switch, the hydraulics for the bucket tilt and lift energizes but brake as I said will not disengage.

Problem is I'm not sure which is park brake solenoid, I have a yellow valve bank with 6 selenoids, and to the left of that a separate block with 2- 1/2" and 2- 3/8" hydraulic lines going to it, there is only one solenoid going to this, would that be the park brake solenoid?

And again he asks - does the Park Brake Light go out when you "release" the Park Brake..?
A Serial Number would also help. The last 8 characters will be either GCP or LMB followed by five digits.
Try posting a photo of the block you're referring to. Someone will confirm if that is the right one.

1588276369967377596215426556547.jpg Park brake light does not go off. The serial # is GCP00585 for this 297C cat tracked skidsteer. I've been tracking wires and hyd/ lines trying to figgure this out. Here's a pic of the 2 hyd/ bloks I mentioned, found another on the left hand side of hyd/ pump.

The park brake solenoid valve is actually mounted on the piston pump itself. It will be on the RH side of the machine, rear section of the pump closest to the engine. Ref. #6 in the illustration.
The two wires connected to it should be marked A958 White and H807 Yellow.

OK, let's start from the top - Serial Number.?
Next thing. Does the Park Brake light go off when you move the switch.?
Is the Driver Alert icon flashing.?

Bugger. That's a shame. You don't have the optional panel that allows you to get into diagnostics and look at Codes. The leaves the only option as finding someone with Cat ET diagnostic software to read the Codes. It doesn't have to be a dealer, plenty of independents have it as well.

If there is no access to ET the only other possibility I can suggest is, without knowing exactly what Active Diagnostic Code is causing your parking brake issue, that you would have to go through the troubleshooting procedure for each and every possible Code that is anything to with the brakes & drive system until you somehow stumble on the one that generates a positive indication of a component acting funky. It's the "needle in a haystack" approach and it would need loads of time and patience without any definite guarantee of success at the end of it.

The other option would be to load the "Parts Cannon" and start firing parts at it until you change one that fixes the problem - in a word, expensive.
