The earlier SJs like mine had those hook rolls and the air brake operated swing gear setup.It looks like the later ones they had been maybe a redone design with the rotek and hydraulic swing. That swing gear setup on my Sj4 took a lot to maintain and getting used to operate with that thumb valve brake.I had heard many bad stories about hook rolls from old timers, but I liked that setup on my machine.It was easy to adjust and grease.

Getting a faller to flush the log ends seems to be going out of fashion again -and is an "added cost" to help offset the cost of
new 41 foot camp trailers with "three tv's and two bathrooms".
That's how it was put to me anyway....I don't know where he'll go next season....
