Let us know how you get on.
I had to give mine the same treatment as terryr's, that is, bore and resleeve the barrels.
Have lasted twenty years so far.

The Fiat Allis 14C starter is a common 42MT Delco-Remy starter - rotatable nose, 24V, 11 tooth pinion, CW rotation, sealed "wet" model, which fits a myriad of engines - Cat, Cummins, Detroit Diesel.
While Delco no longer manufacture these starters, the Chinese now produce exact copies by the truckload every day.
There's nothing wrong with the Chinese Delco copies, they're better than a used starter, and they're available from many suppliers, including eBay, Rareelectrical and even Walmart.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Starter-...27888C91-10461043-10461030-10461128/733383460

There used to be a Canadian company named RCP Inc that manufactured copies of Delco starters. However, in Sept 2012, RCP Inc merged with Florida-based WAIGlobal, who now source starters from all over, mostly China and Taiwan. WAIGlobal can supply a variety of Delco designs. As indicated, WAIGlobal are a global operation, they also operate out of Ontario.

Here's a list of suitable new replacement starters (and alternator) for the Fiat-Allis 14C from WAIGlobal. The later Delco design is a 39MT which replaces the obsolete 42MT, but the 39MT does not have a rotatable nose.

Our old girl is a ‘79 vintage and has this style of starter.
I believe it is a Bosch made under licence by Italian manufacturer Marelli.
It would be handy to know if we could ditch the housing and bolt up a Delco.

Queenslander, that Marelli 4717605 starter is a 12 tooth pinion, so - no interchange with the Delco style unless you change out the flywheel ring gear. I'm not sure what year Fiat-Allis changed over to the Delco-type starter.
If Wendell's F/A 14C has the Bosch/Marelli style starter, he'll be obliged to look for that style for a replacement.
The American and Canadian tractors may have all come from the factory with Delco starters instead of Bosch starters.

There were significant upgrades after ser. no 050101, looks like the Delco starter was one of them.

On edit,
Not 100% sure, but I think that after that ser. no break, the tractors here were designated the FD14D, whereas stateside, they continued on as the 14C.

O.K. My (U.S.) S/No book says the F/A 14C started at S/No 15001 in 1978 and production ended in 1986 with no end S/No given. However, 1986 start S/No is given as 51080.
But the S/No's jump from 19611 to 50536 in 1983.
So, it appears a new S/No prefix starting at 50000 (or 50100) commenced part-way through 1983.
1984 production was 50537 to 51000.
1985 production was 51001 to 51079.
So - S/No 50101 appears to be early 1983 production.
But there are other models of 14C - 14C6R, 14C7R, 14CLGP, 14CV6R and 14CV7R that ran through 1985 to 1989 production years.
There are no F/A 14D models listed in my book, and it was published in 1998.

Looks like I’ve added an extra letter.
The upgraded tractor was known as the FD14 in Aus., Europe and other places other than America.
It featured a turbo and combined brake operation on the steering clutch levers.(and Delco starter)
In the late 80s there was a FD14E then the Hitachi variants.
I don’t recall seeing any of the other C models from the later 80s here.

The 80s were confusing times for FA.
The Fiat direct drive was a hydraulically actuated arrangement.
More like a power shift to operate, they made a great raking or ploughing tractor.

Yes, I remember that Fiat first produced that "direct drive powershift" around 1968-69 in the AD12 and BD12. They never seemed to sell many here on the Left Coast - despite the fact Fiat crawlers had a good name locally, they were robustly built, and reliable.

Thank you for all the info on the starter for my FA14c , my unit is an 11 tooth, 24 V. I was was able to pull the brushes and clean up the armature(some pitting) but seems to work . Could not find new brushes , but old ones will work . Will order a spare.

Thanks for the feedback. As regards electrical overhaul components, I have found the company below to be very good, despite their odd or amusing company name. They can supply components for just about anything made, and their service is excellent and their pricing quite reasonable. You should be able to find your starter components in the link below, especially if you have the numbers off the starter data plate.

Why buy parts when these tractors will just keep going regardless?
I stumbled across this Brazilian outfit recently.
Apparently they run 3 or 4 14Cs, an older B and maybe a D6C.

Ha ha! Don't you just love the 180% worn undercarriage! The bearings in those carrier rollers got up and walked out 10 years ago - and someone should tell him you really need to have a full set of half decent track shoes, if you want any dirt production! And I don't know how that engine keeps cool with those armour plate sideguards with just a few slots in them!

And of course, the chunks out of the cutting edge match all the missing track shoes! I'd guess these guys run on a tight budget?

Can someone on here tell me what I need to swap out the old 8205 to a Cummins 8.3? I have a low hour military 14C with the burned out pistons and scored cylinder walls.
