Hello HEF! I have a 2020 Takeuchi TB260 that has to me ran warm since new, currently at 1280hrs. Why not just take it to the dealer and have it looked at or repaired under warranty you may ask? Well for the most part we have been behind and short on gear for the majority of the time I've had this machine and add to that the dealer wont schedule shop time for me do to them being short handed so it's a drop it off and wait situation. This may be feasible soon but hasn't been so far. I have checked coolant level, tightened belts and made sure cooling pack is clean. I really have no idea what the coolant temp is but after this machine is up to temp you must use a rag or a glove to remove the fuel cap (fill cap is at exit side of air flow under cab) to fill. While operating I can visually see the dash temp change going from high idle to low idle, this is repeatable as if I'm at the limit of the cooling package. Just to clarify the temp will drop once machine is at low idle. I would like to keep this machine and I am happy with it other than this problem. Opinions please!

Have the same issue with one, runs great, blow out the radiator constantly with air and water, keep proper tension on the belts, will run warm, but not too much that the alarm sounds, but once you try and run the AC it will sound the high temp alarm, shut ac off and bring it down to a high idle and comes right back down. Kind of annoying.

Good day
I have trawled our files and come up with some information that maybe helpful. We have similar experience working in hot weather and a confined area.
Kind regards
Uffex

Engine off, obviously...
Attempt to rotate the fan by grabbing a blade. One direction should rotate without the belt turning, the other direction should turn the crankshaft too.
If the fan turns both ways, and you believe the belt tension is sufficient, then the belts are glazed and need replacement.

Having 10 yanmar powered machines, it is common to have to adjust the V belts every service interval. And replace them every 1000 hours or so. My TL150 machines were the worst until I got TB180FR machines.
On my Yanmar powered Yanmars, Vio55 & Vio80, it's usually just the AC belt, but on all the Takeuchis, it's the fan/ alternator belt, too.

On my TB53FR, the only "running hot" solution was a 96mm water pump pulley.

I will throw a belt at it and see if that helps at all.

heymccall, where did you source your water pump pulley?

Both this machine and my SV100 are a chore to adjust belts on, my TB135 with the tilt cab is a cinch to adjust and still remains as the smoothest running of the lot.

I have a 2021 TB260 and have had the same exact problems, twice this summer. But that was both when it was 112 degrees outside in June this summer and I was working the machine really hard digging stumps out and the other time excavating hard rock. Every piece of equipment / truck I've had to renovate the cooling system. Arizona can really push equipment to the max with all the dust and heat it just wreaks havoc on seals rubbers hoses tires and cooling systems.

Hello Heymccall: Was wondering if you have a VIO 55 excavator , and if you do your thoughts on one, as well as problems. Have a John Deere 332G skid Steer and looking for a small excavator. Any comments appreciated. You have the most Yanmars that I know of.

I think I'm on the 3rd oil change on my Vio55-6a. It was chosen for roomier cab than TB153, plus less wear points (slewing arms).
The bonus was the OEM hydraulic pin grabber coupler.
With that said, you miss the slewing boom setup once in a while, and we'll probably keep the FR machines til they're no longer serviceable.

I have absolutely zero complaints on my 1k hour Vio55-6a, and the only service done on my 2k hour Vio80-1a, besides filters and fluids, was to tighten the AC belt (just like my Yanmar powered Takeuchis).

Thank you so much for your personal hands on response. Will be checking into them a bit more. Have seen some good You tube videos of a Vio55 and Vio80 in action and with my skidsteer I could tackle some bigger jobs. Thanks again.
