Nice work on the scrap and copper. Last big demo we did I told my guys they could have the copper and I'll take the scrap metal in 30's.

The building had a lot of copper like the one ya'll are doing. Turds made out with $6,800 in copper and all I got was $3,600.:D

Lol I guess nice guys finish last. Just kidding. We save everything that’s metal. A lot of people say it’s not worth it but I think it is.

:D. My guys had nice Christmas as they cashed out on the 23rd of Dec. I was happy for them.:)

No doubt on the metal. The building was around 8K SF and we salvaged a little over $10K in scrap - that's worth the time to me.

Looking awesome as always. ;)

How are ya'll liking your Thunder Creek trailer? Is it all fuel or PM tanks as well?

Tell us more about the magnet. Are you using a hydraulic generator on the hoe?

Next economic cycle I want to go both feet in and buy a crusher.:D

HI CM. We love the Thunder Creek. It is 990 on fuel and 100 Def. We bought it pretty much for the grinding operation. We can run the grinder an excavator and trackloader for 2-3 days depending on the job.

CM and Hosspuller the magnet works off the alternator. Don’t quote me on this but I think it will pick up 800 pounds of turnings and 10000 pound sheet. It’s super simple to wire up and has been trouble free since we’ve been using it. It is made by Moley Magnetics. The factory guy told me that CSX and NS RR are using them and if they are tough enough for them they are tough enough for us

Two of the parking lots are new. One was a rebuild. Took up the asphalt added rock and regraded. Couple pics of the start of the paving.

LC how does the crushed concrete go down and compact compared to virgin stone? Does it take more or less water to compact compact?

Our 825B or 1.5" crusher run takes a butt load of water to achieve compaction.

I like the crushed concrete. When you spread it there is very little compaction so if you do a good job of spreading it you’ll not have much work when fine grading. It depends on how much moisture is in it when you spread it but it doesn’t take massive amounts of water to get it right. We never use a nuke gauge we always proof roll because of the variables in the material. It’s about impossible to get a proctor on it and have it consistent.

Agreed on a proof roll - a loaded tandem/tri-axle never lies however a nuke gauge will with the wrong information.;)

I try to scrap as much as possible when tearing down houses. I did a demo for the church and told them I would give them the scrap. They didn't think much of it till it paid for a third of the cost of the demo, job.

I agree with you one hundred percent dirty. There is a lot of money to be made from scrap. We hauled 2 loads of rebar from the crusher and got $2500. That was at 5.5 cents a pound.
