Kubota SVL65-2 six hour review

New CTL operator. I just took delivery on a new SVL65-2 to use on the farm to move dirt, rocks, clear trees, brush grapple, general yard work, etc. My only equipment experience is with a Gehl 4240 E that I have put about 250 hours on doing the same type of work.

With the machine I purchased the Kubota root grapple, RG3074, beast of a grapple, we move a lot of brush and down trees and ordered a Land Pride HD74 bucket, which is back ordered until next year per the dealer so they gave me a loaner bucket to use.

They are a Bobcat dealer as well and have offered up a Bobcat bucket if I want it. Not sure if I know if there is a lot of difference between the two. Any feedback on Bobcat buckets?

Just thought I would put out some basic observations and see if others have had the same experiences I have. I tend to be a bit nit picky so bear with me.

Pros:
Love the cab, great simple layout. Will be nice to have AC and heat that makes a difference in the winter.
Controls are responsive, going to take a while to get used to compared to the Gehl.
more capacity
quicker
smoother operation
quiet inside
Door design, big plus according to a lot of folks on the internet. Gehl did not have a door.

Cons:
Odd smell like burned grease, dealer mentioned that might be the smell of final drive oil. Not sure I understand that.
Door seems to be a little tweaked, the left side latches easy, the right sides does not seem to want to latch in the open position.
Door seems a little sticky, might need to lube per a couple threads on here.
Seems to lose power going up hill, just bogs down with and without a load in the bucket.

Thoughts or input?

277CE7CC-F6FE-4ED6-ABA9-29D4263951FB.jpeg I have about 130 hr on my svl 75 now and I haven’t smelled anything odd. On your door, make sure your rubber tips are still on the alignment bolts and they are adjusted right. Makes a big difference on door rattle too. Mine kept falling off I had to glue them on with epoxy. Also put a little grease on the tips where they slide against the frame. That’s what caused mine to fall off and they also squeak with vibration, they have contact points for when door is up and down.

As far as smell, lift your cab up and see if anything is leaking or something..
