Can anyone tell me if part #OR4272 starter can take the place of a pony motor in a early 60s D8

I’ve converted a couple of D8’s to direct start without changing the ring gear.
I’ve used Delco 50MT starters with the offset bendix gear.
Not as sweet as a proper job,but worked fine for me.I allways kept a spare starter motor in the Jeep though
