Anyone have a Bobcat mini?

I am having a problem with my dealer "fixing" my ac system. According to the service manual it should be blowing out much colder air at the vents than it is. Also the pressure readings are low. I've had it in twice and they send it back telling me it's fine but nothing changes.

I was hoping that someone with a Bobcat machine can check the temperature at the vents on their machine so I can compare and help decide what to do next. I have an E50 with a little over 100 hours that is under warranty. It blows out at best about 60 degrees when it's over 85 degrees out. The service manual says it should be between 36 and 53 degrees.

Thank you

It would seem to me that BC should be able to read the temp at 60 and knowing that it should be 53 or colder and do something about it. Finding another machine and getting its temp would be interesting, but shouldn't be necessary.

60f its not working properly.

You know you aren’t tied to that dealer for repairs. Pressure is low? Probably freezing up. Turn it on and run it for a bit. Then shut it of and quickly watch the drain hose. See if you get a rush of water as it quickly thaws.

Ya, I think I might have to bring it somewhere else. Unfortunately the next closest dealer is about 75 miles away and I don't have the equipment to haul it. I might try the dealer I bought it from one more time. I had to argue with the guy for them to take a look at it the second time. The pressure readings are too low too. They didn't check them the first time and told me they were fine the second time. At 90 degrees out the low pressure is around 20psi and the high pressure is around 165 psi. Service manual says the low side should be 15-33 psi and the high side 210-265 psi. I checked again after getting it back the second time and it hadn't changed.

Well, you could add some to bring the pressure up to where its supposed to be. If that fixes good. If it doesn’t go to another dealer.

Before I had the machine brought in the first time I added about 8 oz. of refrigerant to it. No change at all in the pressures. According to the service manual it calls for 23 oz. total. Interestingly when they sent the machine back they said that it had the correct amount of freon.
I used it for about 3 hours this afternoon. It was only about 80 degrees out. Vent temps varied between about 53 and 60 degrees. A couple hours in I noticed some water coming out of a few of the vents. One of the drains has a rubber nipple thing on the end of it. I squeezed it and a bunch of water came out. I went ahead and removed the rubber thing so that shouldn't happen anymore. I don't think that's the main issue because I've checked the pressures before at startup and they are always low.

Since I got the machine back the second time, it starts to leak water out of a couple of the vents. I tried what you said about turning it off and watching for water. As soon as I turn the fan off a lot of water comes out of the drains. They said that there was clog in one of the drains and they fixed it. Most of the water is coming out of 1 drain. It appears that they removed the little rubber valve at the end of the drain tube. I am thinking that it could be sucking in air form there now and that is causing the water to make it to the vents. I removed a second one of the rubber valves yesterday thinking that that was not draining properly. I'll put it back on. Also, it was about 89 degrees out today and the ac was blowing a little colder, fluctuating between 50 and 60. When I was done using it, I hooked up the gauges. For the first minute or so it was at about 30psi on the low side and about 210 on the high side. After that it was back to 20 on the low side and about 180 on the high side. I left it on for about 45 minutes and it never went higher again.

I had worked on a machine that was doing what you had described. When you turned the blower off water would come flooding out. What I have found was that the fan was wired the wrong way. It would still bow out of the vent but not strong. After going over every inch of the a/c system. I couldn't find anything wrong. So I started looking at the schematic to see if I was missing something and I noticed the problem with the fan. This machine had been wired wrong from the factory. I unpinned the machine harness connector and swapped them around. Afterwards I was getting great flow out the vents and the water was draining as it should. I don't recall that the pressure was low as yours. But your description reminded me of that.

Interesting. The airflow on mine is very strong. More than any other machine I own. In fact I have to put the thermometer on the edge of the vent. If it's in the middle of the vent the air pressure will push it out.
