I absolutely love it definitely makes laying down gravel go much faster and nice to be able to compact in lifts only thing I dislike is it’s not and independent axle packer like the walk n rolls and handy hitch packers but having this is better than nothing at allHow do you like the packer?
what kind of gravel is that? Crushed, or screened? Looks like it would be muddy. We used a sandy river rock for years, and still crush it for some jobs, but mostly quarry now. The quarry makes better agg for asphalt, and the 1 inch minus is a byproduct, so it is cheaper than the river rock. Packs harder than concrete, but really hard to do anything with after the traffic hits it.View attachment 262954 View attachment 262955 View attachment 262956 View attachment 262957 Started putting down new gravel last couple of days on the roads I pulled shoulders on this spring I put down 3inches of gravel when we do a mile thats 1900 ton a mile a belly dump goes 69 feet and about 84 loads a mile here’s a few pictures I took.
This is 3/4 crushed gravel has a good amount of clay in it think the plasticity rating is around 8 so it’s some sticky material I love it you get it laid out right and get a couple of rains on it and it sets up like concrete only con is you pretty much have to have moisture in order to work with this material.what kind of gravel is that? You're flirting with disaster with a missing cutting edge bolt.I’m all done with my spring work have the roads I pulled shoulders on all ready for gravel in a couple of weeks here here are a few pictures of last road I worked up also trying some new cutting edges out trying the cat style triangle bits I like them so far to nice job mixing material View attachment 261471View attachment 261472View attachment 261473View attachment 261474
As far as I’m aware I’m not missing any bolts? You're flirting with disaster with a missing cutting edge bolt.
I see what your talking about there’s not a bolt that goes in there just a hole i the cutting edgeIn the pic. with the stinger edges, a bolt is missing right by the 2ft. extension.
Because of the versatility of the aftermarket blades it's common for there to be a hole in the edge because there's not a matching hole in the moldboard. Move the edge to a different location and that hole might be used. Mine are the same way.In the pic. with the stinger edges, a bolt is missing right by the 2ft. extension.
What's the chances of that going well.....Finished pulverizing a stretch of road last week. Going to start graveling on Monday. Not sure how many trucks, but it's a 4 hour round trip from our quarry, so hope they found lots to haul. Not a lot of belly dumps around, and lots of overhead wires on the job, so I can imagine it's gonna be a mess. 4.3 meters between the stakes, so not a lot of room for bad dumps.
It was not too crazy. A few belly dumps, and a lot of those belt unloaders. They managed to get 29 trucks. By the time number 29 dumped, you had about an hour before the first truck in the round returned. They got 3 rounds each a day, and were happy with it. Wonder what the rate was? Took 2 days to get the tonnage down, and they stock piled for shouldering later on. About 4 days to fine grade, and they started paving this morning. Back down in the morning to float the road ahead of them, and then help mark out center. If the rain holds off, they should get the first lift on, then I won't have to go down there and grade on the weekend. 1 1/4 quarry, flat tires galore, and when you grade out the pot holes they just drive faster, and get more flats. What's the chances of that going well.....
