Put 4 hours straight on my machine this morning. 105* heat index, dusty conditions, and AC running full blast. Temp gauge never got over the halfway mark. I think it's safe to say my radiator clean out I did last fall is a success.

That is great to hear...not that it was hot, that you were cool and the hoe was doin ok too!!:D:D

On the down side the hoe has two new leaks.

RF inside of wheel is wet with oil. Haven't looked enough to know if it's from the diff or hub. Either way I already know my right upper ball joint doesn't want to come out because I already tried to replace it. Pretty sure it's going to be a bugger to fix.

Hard line for the crowd at the base of the boom developed a pin hole and started spraying oil. I will have to pull that, clean it up, and weld it. Lines are listed at $550 each and showing backorder. Shouldn't be a big deal to fix that. I had to weld one of my stabilizer tubes when I first got it and that is still holding.

Finished the access road through the woods on my farm. Cleared 250 yards of timber without a thumb or a grapple. Dragged big logs with log chains and slings. Cut a lot into sections small enough to fit my bucket. I think I worked harder than my TLB. Dug a 30 yard channel to reroute one creek into another. The new 24” high-capacity bucket is a big improvement over the 18” but I can definitely tell a difference with the boom at 90 degrees.

I guarantee it but the price with tax and delivery for a no-weld thumb from USA Attachments is $2300. This winter I may try to make one or possibly modify a weld-on model. I did have a set of pallet forks given to me yesterday. I just have to get the attachment hooks for the bucket.

It would be quite easy to convert a weld-on thumb to a bolt on one.
Some grade 8 all thread and a couple of 5/8 " or heavier plates.
In the picture is just one of the thumbs Palletforks offers.
The base plate would need to be wide enough for the mounting bolts to to go past the dipper arm with a tight fit.
A minimum of three rods, preferably four wold bolt to the other plate.

@Bote, if shipping is cheaper than buying outright let me know, if you pay for the shipping I'll send you an extra set I have... I don't remember the weight and I don't think we own a scale. I'll see if the box is labeled with a weight.

Those might fit in a USPS flat rate box.

Thanks Aighead. I checked the round bar and it's 2" in diameter and there were three hooks on the backhoe. I figure most of these are similar in construction. If yours are like this, PM me and I'll send you the $ to ship.

Yeah man! You saying there were 3 hooks on the backhoe these came off of? I keep forgetting to check the box for weight, though the bar is the same size. I'll send you a note.

That is pretty Honcho but it looks real sketchy to work under! Also, can you send me some of those rocks?

Burst a swing cylinder hose while digging Saturday and she bled all over the ground. Hoses on order. I thought if I just dont hit the swing lever I could still drive it out of there, but she still seems to hemorrhage whenever pump is running.

Boo casey!

I spent like 4 hours on Monday learning that I need to clean the grease off my hoe more often and I'm apparently only half way through that lesson. I was going to finish learning yesterday but, man, it's hot up in these parts, I stayed inside.

By "learn" I mean wiping excess grease off with paper towels and getting the zirks cleaned up and junk. I think I've been over greasing but under frequency, I should grease less, more often, and wipe the beast down occasionally. What a miserable job. I'm considering trying to knock the big grease chunks off with a pressure washer but the only good spot for doing that is right in the middle of the driveway, I'd rather not have giant grease boogers all over, though it is gravel so maybe I could just mix it up, I don't know.

I saw where someone else stated, using a pressure washer to remove built up grease deposits will only result in covering the entire machine with grease splotches!!! I can give an amen to that - been there, done that.

Wiping as you grease is probably the better option but that increases the greasing time more than double. Takes the better part of a paper roll and close trash can.

I tend to over grease as well….
It’s difficult not to.

Hot water pressure washer is best. You can use Super Clean first.
Grease fittings are important to clean, don't want to pump grit into the joints. The exposed fittings are easy, those recessed can be slow to clean out. A screwdriver to dig the bulk of greasy dirt, then fold the paper towel 4 layers & screwdriver again.
Everybody's gun is different, most joints I do 5 pulses gun set on high pressure, low volume is plenty.

I was a roll and a half of paper towels deep when I gave up. I've found that gloves help, though the grease wipes off my hands more easily, so I can touch things like my glasses, it's nice to just rip the gloves off and have cleanish hands underneath.
