Somewhere within these threads is a LeTourneau skidder mounted on an ex WW II KW. I think it was used in Idaho. But, since I cannot find it, I cannot say for sure.

If it was a KW built during WWII, it would have been a rare one. KW's built during the Big WW were built
in Yakima from mid 42 to early 46. The Seattle facilities were used for building equipment for the war.
The KW plant in Yakima was located on N. Front St. Years ago I had a neighbor who at the time lived in
Selah and worked at that plant in Yakima. He latter moved to Ellensburg. He showed me a box of old
black and white photos taken at the plant. KW mainly hired locals instead of moving workers from Seattle.
The ones who did move were engineers and floor bosses.

This is the only KW I have ever seen built in Yakima. There were less than a 1,000 produced because all
materials went to war effort. A 1944 below-note the wrought iron grille and Badge-known as the Bug at KW.

I saw a strange one today. Fiberglass highway truck with a sleeper and the great big air deflector with a set of bunks on the truck and the usual dolly. Reach pinned so the dolly was flat towing. Headed up into the woods empty. All I can figure is that somebody is desperate. Or his regular truck broke down. I wish I could have grabbed a picture. I wish I knew the story.

Norm decided that it was time to get 2 new tandem trucks as the old Ford was getting old and tired. He went to Ford, GMC and IH the IH dealer in Prince George gave him the best deal by a long ways so he bought to new trucks there. After 2 weeks he knew why the sales man took off with his wife. Norm said that was the best think that ever happened. he got 2 new trucks that made him money and got rid of her for free.
