I hate to add the extra drag of more mirrors (it's the pilot in me.... and the Prius driver) but I do need to do something as I don't want to bend the bumper again (repaired good) and many times, in tight areas, it can make the difference between a 3 or 4 part turn around and a 2 part. I always tell any ground crew to watch THAT corner, I have the others handled via mirrors and the backup camera. My only blind spot...., extra drag aside, I need to stop by my local heavy truck supply house and browse the mirror department.

Backup camera looking at that corner. One of our guys had his whole work van perimeter covered by cameras.

Sent one of the guys a hour and a half away today, supposed to do precast floor panels. I went and looked at it- crane was going to be 80-85' away. Looks like 25-30' long panels or so- customer says he sets them all the time where he's from in kansas, this is his new lake home.

He tells me the panels are only going to be 900 to 1,100 lbs each. I've never set panels that were that light, but maybe these are hollow core with lightweight concrete- he's pretty adamant about their weight he "sets them all the time back home". Whatever buddy, the 40 ton linkbelt can set them if he's on the money for weight, and I've got a little chart to spare.

I'm out working in the 100 ton and my phone rings (I bet you can see where this is going:rolleyes:). Its my operator, he's got the first panel picked up, a small one of the bunch, and its 8,500lbs. I tell him to just offload them, and get weights. Big panels are 11,500. I guess he missed a zero on the end of his weights.

I can't even set them with the 100 ton with no closer than I can get, they're going to have to make me a pad to get my radius down. No ones very happy, but you'll have that sometimes.

I can't type my initial response as it would explode the filters here, but it ended with rotten liars. Glad to get done with this business soon :)

Night work. I hate night work. Night crew supposed to be ready to pick at 10:00. We get there at 9:00 "Sorry man- we've got a truck to unload first won't get around to you until 11:00 blah blah blah"

We got started around 10:00- none of the pre lift information was right- so I could have just as well stopped by the local preschool and had them fill out the lift plans- it would have been just as accurate.

127' away in the dark dark night.....

Engine oil out of the 60 series in the western star. One of the guys went out back and fired it up- I hopped in to stare at a low water light. Well the water was low because the antifreeze is all in the pan.

We had a reman head put on last year, and evidently there's issues by #1 cylinder- either gasket or the reman head is junk. Fun never stops around here. IMG_1917.JPG IMG_1918.JPG
