What I am learning is closed loop is more desired & easier plumbing but more costly up front. Open loop is cheaper but requires more valving & labor.

That is the last 009 out of Weyerhaeuser Longview.
It went to Phoenix Logging then not sure who got it.
Did it arrive with the 739?
How much for the hoist?
I will PM you his phone number. Not sure who owned it in Alaska but they went broke and Papec Logging finished the job they were on.

Thanks buddy, I had a hard charging, hard nosed & talented dad & group of great mentors.

You would be amazed that all the hate mail I get and even phone calls and text messages from guys guys because they don't like what I say. We've lost jobs with timber companies because of the truth like that as today's people just don't want to hear the truth or anything that offends them, which seems to be everything!

If you leave the timber industry you may find your calling in the public speaker field. Travel the country giving your “must be nice” motivational speeches! :D

I was watching a show about Michigan law enforcement where a logging company with a history of taking extra logs was investigated. They had bid on a gov't. thinning project about 40K less than the next lowest bidder. Turns out they were taking paint cans and using different mark's on desirable tree's. They found a paint can in a forwarder I think. When law enforcement finally caught up with the owner he tried to claim it was done to improve the roads and access into the Bush. They didn't buy it. He was fined 113K and given a lifetime ban on bidding on gov't. contracts. The guy had some medical issues but I would think he would be close to losing his business after that. Don't know if it was a case of inexperience or the guy trying to pull a fast one but the penalty was pretty severe as it should be. Unless the guy made a lot on cutting the desirable logs that weren't supposed to be cut.

That used to happen quite often on government timber sales especially federal sales.. The tree paint they use has a special compound in it which is traceable back to the paint manufacturer as the government is the only one that gets the paint with that special compound. Pretty easy to analyze if you have a suspicion someone is stealing timber

The colour was a little off and the forestry service also made specific markings on the tree's that weren't duplicated. It sure seemed like a stupid thing to do. Did they not think the forestry service would check on the job???

I have found the shadiest loggers to be tree service & private property (homeowner) loggers
