What is everyone doing with the steep increase in fuel prices? They are going up daily with no end in site!

Are you adjusting rates as they go up?
Adding a fuel surcharge?
Absorbing the cost?
Other?

Don't know what the plan is. Oil goes up, so does liquid asphalt. We add 15% to everything in winter to offset the shutdown season. Having to fire up a 350 excavator in order to break into frozen stock piles ain't cheap. Some government contracts have items that allow for fuel costs. Gas was $1.56 L last week, jumped to $1.61 Thursday, then $1.70 yesterday. I think fuel is $1.85, like $5 something a gallon

Diesel jumped from $4.00 to about $4.50 overnight a couple days ago here in Wisconsin. I guess I will be just trying to keep pushing pricing up to keep up.
Just got a price on an undercarriage for my excavator, just the chains and sprockets are $4900, last year the same quote was $3900 . . . it isn't just the fuel that's causing pricing problems.

I just put $197.00 worth of...no cost of gas in my truck today. Hearing that it is going up another 12 cents per liter tonight. Just waiting for the power company to request a rate increase to cover the cost of fuel

Out travel charge is going up in service calls. Quotes have only been good for a few days plus there's pricing subject to world events and conditions language in since the china flu started.

All the above. We can only charge so much more and be competitive so we eat some of it. The "other" is the wildcard.

Best advice I can give is buckle up it's going to be wild ride.

I agree on the wild ride for the foreseeable future. We are fortunate that we have a very good workload and most our clients do not depend on one particular years income to base their decisions on. They also understand real world issues and do not have any issue with realistic and fair price increases. But like you we eat some of it also

I see me and my boys doing a few bulk fuel installs in the near future.

Our petrol in New Zealand is over $3 a litre now. Diesel over $2 per litre

That's only $5/ gallon in Us dollars, unless he did a currency exchange.
That's in $nzd. Diesel vehicles also need to pay a separate road user tax, which is $78/1000km for a passenger vehicle.
If you were to own a typical truck& trailer in NZ, you'd be paying $400/1000km for the truck, and $238/1000km for the trailer.
So for our fleet that runs on average 50L-100km, you're paying $1.64/km just on diesel and road user charges

I have little doubt that we will. Our current govt is determined to move away from ICE vehicles, meantime we're importing record amounts of coal to generate electricity in our ageing Huntiy power station, which is already on borrowed time

Sorry, I hope you guys don't end up regretting that.
