I was just looking through these forums again and theres not much posts (at least in this specific section) around 2D machine guidance systems.
As these systems become more widely accepted, I thought i'd put up a thread where members and alike can come and see what the fuss is about, plus any advice or comments you may have on them and we can answer questions from those who may be looking into them as well.
Are you running a 2D machine guidance system?
And if so, which system, how do you like it and pros + cons
I'm personally running the iDig 2D touch (not to be confused with iDIGbest as they are completely separate)
I've had it nearly exactly a year now, and so far its been fantastic; its sensors are wireless externally so I can't snag wires on trees etc as I'm always working in the bush and I switch the same units between 2 machines, 5 and 14 ton - this saves me from buying 2 units and associated costs.
I've actually personally met one of the main developers twice now and he's been great, one of my favourite things is they are really interested in user feedback and suggestions and implementing them - My dealer comes out and updates my unit with a usb drive when they become available.
They come with calibration setup as well so you can calibrate it straight out of the box for any machine you may have or add to your fleet.
I can't actually think of any cons at this stage, I suppose the only thing would be wire management from the screen cradle to the gyro sensor inside the cab, however with a little bit of finesse its pretty easy to make it look tidy, its just the length of the wires mainly.
