Since this site has given me great info so far, maybe you can help me find a mech-e?

Looking under every stone in my view, figured I'd ask here too.

Does anyone know a retired mechanical engineer in the northeast USA who can help me design an i-beam, crane trolley for a project? I'd be happy to pay for his or her time.

Thanks

This is not an exact answer to your question but the steel retailers have engineers that will take loads and size the correct beam, meaning if you have a 6 ton trolley they will size the beam to 6 tons over a particular distance.

Your project is probably more involved than this but they may have engineers to steer you in the right direction that they work with, they want to help anyone out who is going to purchase their steel.
