I think you're still way too vague. All the Cat software is likely enough for an encyclopedia of dozens of volumes. What are can't engines?

If you want Cat ET you either go to your dealer or buy an aftermarket system from China. You will at least need
a laptop and a cat communication adapter to go with the software.
My last complete system came with a refurbished tough book laptop for $1800 can. It does far more than just Cat.
Not sure who would show you how to use it.

Thank you. I will look into getting that.

You will also need an annual subscription to Cat Service Information System.

All the codes and sensor status you find on ET are explained on SIS. There is so much information on SIS, it is difficult sometimes to find the specific information your looking for. Especially if you are switching back and forth between different architectures of troubleshooting software, like John Deere Service Advisor, Cummins Insight, Navistar, and Cat SIS.

The two subscriptions, ET and SIS, work together. If you only purchase one, your only standing on one foot. It will be tough to run a race.

The last time I saw any numbers, which admittedly was a few years ago, the purchase price of the ET software was around US$1,200 including the first year licence fee, the annual licence renewal fee was around $500, and the Communication Adapter Hardware required to connect the laptop to a machine was $800. This is assuming you already have a laptop on which to load the software and that has adequate storage & performance capabilities to run it. If you work with on-highway & industrial engines that use the J1939 connector as opposed to the Cat Datalink connector you will need an additional fly lead cable that does not come with the Comms Adapter.

The Cat factory ET software has a 365-day countdown clock from the moment it is first activated and it deactivates when the clock hits zero.

If you are a good customer of the dealer you might well be rewarded with a free of charge login to SIS.
