I thought hand lapping was out of fashion on anything after 1950 because the expansion of materials would cause the contact patch to be in a different spot than when it was lapped cold?

Did you make your own tag there? Try to help the next guy know what is inside it?

That hand lap idea is a fallacy. Lapping is done to remove any imperfections from seat and valve face.
The valve stem clearance allows some movement on the seat anyway.

You can't and haven't been able to buy blank engine data plates from Cummins for quite a while. They have
to dyno certify the engine and stamp the tag.
So yes I made a data plate to show what it is and crank/block info.

I did not make a engine data tag for the Cat yet have all the parts used information, Block S/N, Processor Engine Conversion to S/N so when a Tech plugs in it is the one listed not the OE engine but hard parts all fall back to the OE series. Mine is a Frankenmotor now.

I still like Simple, basic needs and function. Rubber Floor Mat is convenience to me instead of carpet, nice paint, shines where should components. Time spent dressing one out to a extreme is a waste as does not haul better or necessarily impress anyone but one's self. I do like a FEW accoutrements, just not dangles and bangles everywhere.
