I'm just curious....why the delay in registering? Don't worry, we have quite a number who do the same thing, lurk for a while and then join, but what's the reason?

Howdy, fairly new operator, started last year when driving dump truck as a fill in for the boss, moved cross country and then another short move and finally running wheel loader full time. So far about 1000 hours in Volvo Komatsu, CAT!!, and New Holland. Newest was the volvo, forget the model number but even that broke for awhile, poor maintenance at my work. I like to ride motorcycle and do so to work everyday, I gave up a long time ago trying to keep it clean at the rock pit. I found the forum looking for tips running motor grader, I look forward to learning more!

Hey Steve,...Guys... Glad I found this forum. Looks like a bunch of experienced people here. Let me introduce myself, My name is Tim and I work for a small construction company in Ellsworth, Maine. Started there in November of 1981. Worked mostly as a wrench turner (short time working at a hot top plant). We do oil changes, change truck tires and such, mostly repairs. looking forward to exchanging ideas in the cyber world..

Hi there. I stumbled onto this forum when I was looking for information on rebuilding a hydraulic cylinder and I have been hooked ever since. There is some great information from experienced folks here. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I've always had an interest in heavy equipment. I'm an agricultural engineer and occasionally my job gets me into operating some equipment - mostly backhoes or skid steer loaders.
My father passed away this past January, and I've recently been messing around with some of the equipment he had. He wasn't a full time equipment operator, but he had a small farm and just liked to collect stuff. One machine he left is a Cat 951C track loader which is in real nice shape. I just need to repair a leaky tilt cylinder on the bucket. There is also a Case 480CK loader tractor which is old but handy. I have already re-packed a cylinder on it - thanks to the info I found on these forums.
Well that is more than enough babbling for now. I will probably be asking for some technical help from time to time, so thanks in advance.

Hello,

I enjoy watching HD equipment work. I have a farm background and loved operating that kind of equipment, but there is just something anout moving dirt thats hard to explain. I owned a skid steer for 1 month till someone wanted it worse than me. I am looking to buy either another skid steer or mini -ex. Just cant seem to find the right unit at the right price yet.

I found the forum just by searching. I am a consultant here in the oilpatch in Alberta and get to see the big units up at the oilsands plants. The D11's, 797's, EX 1100's and so on are massive and fun to watch, I'm just glad I dont have to pay for one or the fuel they burn!

Hey,

I've been lurking around and reading alot of good stuff. Thought I would introduce my self. Name is Jeff. I Own J&M Excavation and Construction in wonderful Sandpoint Idaho. My fair share of work consists of Rip Rap jobs, roads, and pretreatment septic systems( gotta keep the lake clean haha). I hate and will try to not work as a sub contractor for other generals. I have a crew of about 5 guys varies depending on jobs. The iron the bank and I own are a sk250,sk210, Case cx75, Tack. tl150, New Holland D85 and TD8, 82 Kenworth transfer and an old jimmy rock truck. I am looking at a used 312 lc with a 5',3' 2' and Ripper and I want to buy a New Holland B95 hoe about november.

I have more work that I can handle and have only had one ass for a customer in the last 4 years. Ill post pictures of the current projects as soon as I can post and I look forward to passing on some knowledge and getting some too.

I am a third year apprentice with IUOE Local 18, Dayton, Ohio. I retired in 2004 after 32 years as a law enforcement officer and decided in 2006 that it was time to start a new career - one that I had wanted to do since my childhood days. I have been fortunate enough to work for one good company in the time I have been an operator and they do in fact keep me working pretty regularly. Mostly have been running articulated end dumps but also challengers, rollers and compactors and once in a great while I do get to get a little stick time on our D6 dozers. Am loving being an operator - like being a kid only getting to run the real equipment and actually getting paid pretty well for it. Looking forward to the information which is shared by all of the operators on this site. God bless you all.

Just found the forums. I see several other "forum" members here that I have seen elsewhere on the net. I am in the process of purchasing a Case 580b to use around the farm. I think be here at this place will be as productive as trips to the library "used to be".

hello!
My name is danial doherty. i have only been running heavy equipment for the past 2 years. I work for one of the largest constrction companys in eastern canada, they have there own training school that i attended and was hired as an operator upon completion! For my first year and a half i have ran Dozers and excavators mostly, but starting this summer i was chosen to run our new MINI Grader (champion C80c). Running a grader is a great job in my opinion and could care less if i ever sat back in a dozer or excavator ever again! I am still very new to all aspects of running heavy equipment and hope that searching these fourms and talking to all the experienced operators on here will help me in years to come!

rapper... hi every on. my name is james, im a 2nd year plant mechanic from australia. this is the best heavy plant site out there, great job guys. i found this site googling some info on heavy plant and this site showed up. im not very good at the computer stuff. im doing my time with a local council so i get to work on a range of stuff from small plant(ride on mowers) cars, trucks to graders and wheel loaders.. i hope i get to meet a lot of other trade people from all over the world with this site.... keep on trucking guys :waving

Hey all. Im from Ohio and i just graduated high school/construction technology. I've been fascinated by all types of construction equipment since i was little. I worked as a diesel mechanic for a while and then ran an old jd TLB for a plumbing company. I recently ran a sennebogen 840 and a CAT 345mh. I've also ran a cat IT62 loader at work. I've ran quite a few pieces of equipment while at school so i have a lot of basic experience. Im looking to run equipment in the dirt again but there really isnt a whole lot to offer around here. Nice talkin to ya'll!
