This thread was shared over on the forestryforum. I hadn't previously seen it and these machines are incredible. The amount of work done on these in just a few days is insane to me... Well done and I'm terribly sorry to read the last few entries to this thread. Something tells me @Coastal isn't held back much...

can you link me to that thread?

What a bugger Coastal. Hopefully MK 2 is on the drawing board.

That really sucks that your custom excavator got burned up. Can any of it be reused?

In 2010 I caught the edge of a major forest fire. I was lucky as I got to my property before the fire came through. I was able to move my equipment to a cleared area and used my water truck to soak all around an old 5th wheel trailer I kept tools in and my dirt bike. The fire marshal was surprised I was able to save basically everything. The fire boss came down and took the mask off of his face and gave it to me. He appreciated my help but told me to leave if it got too bad. I'm sure I would have lost some equipment and/or the 5th wheel had I not been able to soak them down and/or move them. I like the show Timber Kings and was devastated to hear that Pioneer Log Homes lost millions and the owner moved an RV on site (after previously sleeping in his truck) to try to save as much as possible. I think there were 3 or 4 multi-million dollar homes almost ready for shipment that were lost in the blaze. I'm sure they lost a lot of premium timber and machinery too.
