I know a dental hygienist/nurse, when I met her she was a few years from school. State of Alaska helps people with their tuition if they commit to work in Alaska for a time.
Cop pulls her over at midnight on her way from a shift at the hospital. He makes some lame excuse why he pulled her over, snow obstructing her license plate light. She was a real beauty & knew very well why he stopped her. A pickup with no passenger door drives by, cop waves all friendly.
She was enraged! "He didn't even have a door!" Why aren't you arresting him?"
"Oh, he said, he doesn't have an inspection sticker." "In Alaska, inspections are optional. If you don't have one, you can't get insurance, and there are no defective equipment laws."

I know two brothers own two farms 12 miles apart. They share equipment & shuttle back & forth. Nothing they own is registered, nothing insured. Tractors aren't required to be, but trucks are. They claim they've never had a ticket.

One brother ran an unpermitted construction dump. He lives near the airport. After years of getting away with it, somebody spotted it from the air, reported him. He made the newspaper, there was a bit of a fuss, I think he paid a small fine.

A very good friend's wife inherited a farm. They never actively farmed, but rented the farm out. They had a spring water business. The tanker truck was registered as Ag. One very early morning he was pulled over by a County Sherriff's deputy. The cop was beside himself with glee at the big truck bust he had. Dave pointed out the Agricultural plates. A long radio discussion ensued with the Deputy's boss. Ultimately, none of the violations were valid if Ag plates.
