Before the guy showed up, I told the dealer that if the transport rig or driver didn’t look kosher, to refuse to release the hoe, call me, and I’d arrange something else. They never bothered to even look out the window.

And this guy was not cheap either.

You expect the dealer to know better in a world where you cant even get the right parts the dealer supposed to know what's legal for transport

I would definitely agree should never have been loaded on that trailer hot shots are a big culprit in the state of sketchy vehicles and there advertised capabilities

Around here the guy would have shown up with a dual tandem that would have been fine. They are thick on the ground out west. Either a dual tandem with those mega ramps on them, or a three-car slant.

^ there was a 53 footer getting one of those tickets 3 weeks ago, at the Cayuse pass intersection.

Offset steel posts had to be sunk in the road bed to keep OTR's from trying to climb the
Butler Grade. A gravel road all the way and a maximum of 14% in some places. One rig
had to be drug by large cat to get it out. Drivers using GPS taking a short cut. The Butler
grade is just west of Walla Walla.

We have Mount Mansfield. Summer weather a tractor trailer can't wind between the boulders. There are MANY signs warning. Still, a few get stuck in the several tight S curves at the top. October there will inevitably be 12 or more rigs have to be towed down backward. Mid December they gate the road, that helps.

Looks like fun in the bare truck. We have to go camping at Wallowa Lake sometime.

This portable generator needed a few more tiedowns I think. A crew was moving parts of a portable batch plant, and this load did not make it around a curve in the road. I wonder if the truck driver got fired?generator 1.jpg generator 2.jpg generator 3.jpg

I know several people who tow their travel trailer with something similar. They are relatively cheap, especially for the miles you will put on it and they will haul the load safely. You can have two economical vehicles and have a third parked unless you need it. Insurance is cheaper, fuel overall is cheaper. A win -win package. Nope, it isn't crazy, kind of smart in my opinion.
