    IUOE Apprenticeship

I have a good friend (who falls under the laborer union as a foreman for a road construction company) tell me that I could go that route. I wouldn't have any issue completing an apprenticeship program if it would have advantages over testing in.

    IUOE Apprenticeship

I'm sure it's super competitive. I have a 10 year history (verifiable) of efficiently operating excavators, backhoes, wheel loaders, power box pavers, asphalt rollers, graders, dozers tractor mounted equipment and a Class A CDL. I have numerous OSHA training certifications too. Oh, and I am...

    IUOE Apprenticeship

I am looking to inquire into people's experience with the apprenticeship process for the Operating Engineers (local 825 specifically but open to input from other locals). I am the sole provider for a wife and 1 year old. I have money saved up and a few accounts that will terminate if I were to...

    Weiler/Gehl Pavers

Does anybody have any experience with the small Weiler (formerly Gehl) pavers? The model in question is the 6 ton hopper 1648.

    NTC Cummins Coolant leak (pH/flush)

I ended up flushing the system with a hose, refilling with wet sleeve spec green antifreeze, dike stop leak and dca 4. My bypass on the filter housing was corroded and broke in the open position so I removed the filter housing, ran a tap through the weep holes and used thread sealant on two...

    NTC Cummins Coolant leak (pH/flush)

Can I get to the head bolts without pulling the Jake housings off?

    NTC Cummins Coolant leak (pH/flush)

My filter does have some sort of valve to cut off the fluid entering the filter. I have never had to maintain one of these trucks (I am mechanically inclined with passenger vehicles) so I am not sure if the filter contains a solid or a liquid but I am under the impression it still acts as a...

    NTC Cummins Coolant leak (pH/flush)

I have a 1988 Big Cam IV 400 cummins with a minor coolant leak seaping from between the block and heads on a few cylinders. The leak is pretty minimal, some days I don't see anything other days I can see it slightly puddle on the deck of the block. I would like to try one of those sealers...

    12 ton excavator preference?

I actually really like what I am reading about the case 9010b! The price is right in my range too. I knew about the 490 deer and didn't know anything about the linkbelt manufacturer. I think I am defiantly in the market for a 9010b Or comparable linkbelt 2650q. Thanks.

    12 ton excavator preference?

I understand About the condition. I don't think case makes a machine in this size range and deere doesn't have a 120 model until a few years later and closer to 40 grand. If I was buying a 40g machine, I'd be selling the Pete for a tandem and buying a 135 model machine.

    12 ton excavator preference?

I have narrowed down my choice to start out with a 12 ton excavator because it's the biggest machine I can safely tow with my single axle (21k rear) and the other companies in the area range from a 12 to 15 ton machine. I figure I can be legal with a 30,000lb machine at most I see multiple...

    590d or Ex160

I guess so. The 590 looks like a late 80s machine up to the end of the 90s while the ex120 is a very early 90s machine. I really wish hitachi/deer made a 130-140 sized machine in the mid to late 90s for me to buy. I'd like to stick to the 30-35 grand price range for my first machine.

    590d or Ex160

Thanks for the replies guys. I defiantly am not in the market for anything bigger than a 160! As it is, the 160 seems like it might be out of the question due to the huge jump in fuel consumption, purchase price and still not having the capabilty of setting a large tank. I guess I'm going to...

    590d or Ex160

Thanks for the response. I just noticed the fuel consumption that Deer lists for the 160LC (can't find one for the EX160) and wow! They claim 3-5 gallons/hour while the 590D is listed at 2-3.5 gallons/hour. I'm also comparing lift capacity charts between the EX160/LC, 590D and the EX120-3. The...

    590d or Ex160

I am looking to start excavating in the 2016 season (for insurance reasons because I won't be 25 until July 2015 and want to build up some credit to help reduce it) but am looking for my equipment now. I am not in a rush but have my eyes peeled for a truck, trailer and excavator that I want...
