    Bunch of Pictures

I kinda disapeared for bit. Working out in the cold and then away for Christmas. Couple pictures of the truck taken not too long ago. Where abouts are you in the lower mainland CK? send me a PM, I'm down on the coast right now, with the truck. Body is a Brutus Body, I would say there's no...

I ran a service truck in down town Vancouver, I didn't mind sitting in traffic when I was on the clock, but spending up to 4 or 5 hours a day of my own time trying to get to/from my home was not good times. Up here I can travel for a day and not see a single person or vehicle. More likely to...

Had the truck moved out of the shop to bring in some engine parts. Rebuilding a John Deere 6068 out of a 270C LC. I bought the truck used at the tail end of the down turn in the Alberta Oilfields. Truck is 4 wheel drive, with a 10 speed stick, 2 speed transfer case, and rear diff...

Have you ever reported any one to the Dot?

No real opinion on reporting to DOT.....too many variables to make that call on here. If you honestly believe that something is so unsafe it should not be on the road, call the DOT, run it by them, if they're truly concerned they'll want to know more and know who. As for CVIP inspections. We...

I've run freightliner service trucks in the past and the cabs are like a tin can, the oldest I ran had a Mercedes engine and you couldn't even hear yourself think. One of the first things i did was strip out the cab and insulate it with a sound deadening mat. It made a big difference in engine...

    Bunch of Pictures

Nothing too exciting to post at the moment. I'm doing a bunch of work on my service truck, I'll get some overall pictures up soon. When I bought the truck it was a gorgeous truck but filthy and disorganized, rather it had good bones but did not have much thought put into it. Few before and...

    Common rail fuel pressure reading?

not a ton of Common Rail stuff here, and that stuff that is I've got the software for. I think that OTC tool would work well though, doesn't need to be perfectly accurate, so long as it's within a couple hundred psi you'll be able to tell if you've got a rail pressure issue on a no start.

    Service truck layout/organization

Chain rack is made by Star Manufacturing. Brutus Service Bodies puts them in their bodies as part of the standard build, I just moved it from the dog house to that cabinet. I'll work on some pictures, I've got the truck all tore apart at the moment doing some work on it. New fuel tanks, some...

    Common rail fuel pressure reading?

from my experience, the systems are close enough that you can at least diagnose your no starts. 0.5-4.5 Volts, typically require minimum 4000psi rail pressure to start, peak pressures are usually 18-26ish,000psi. Most are a re-branded Bosch fuel system now anyways. Does the OTC tool just show...

    Service truck layout/organization

Nice lookin service body, need more pics. Take your time and think out your layout, we all set our trucks up differently. Think about the best ways to keep yourself efficient and productive. Simple things like when you mount your Oxy/Acetylene bottles, make sure the valves are positioned so...

Heres a good one. John Deere 844J. 6125 engine. Idler gear between the crank and cam (adjustable for backlash) busted itself out of the case. Engine stopped solid for a moment and push the camshaft up cracking all the journals in the cylinder head, mushroomed over several valves and snapped...

excellent jet boating up here, trying to find it in the budget to buy a boat, even an old one that needs fixing. Some of the best hunting is along the rivers. Few more pictures. My old service truck running across one of the many extremely "confidence inspiring" bridges up here. 40...

    Hydraulic Packing Supplier

Try Grizzly Supplys (grizzlyseals.com). They're based out of Port Kells (Vancouver) in BC Canada. They do have a branch in Washington as well so you don't have to import into the US. Top notch product, I use them for all my cylinder rebuilds. just a note, I'm not advertising for this...
