    My “K” glands have a little set screw on the edge of gland where it meets the cylinder. Can’t miss it unless it’s full of dirt and painted yellow. Anyone with a “D”?

    Actually just remembered, had a come along pulling down on the pipe to my truck trailer hitch. Heated, stood on the tailgate and hit the end of the pipe with a sledge to get break free.

    Took 2 guys on the end of an 8 ft pipe on the gland wrench to break my dipper cylinder gland free. Had to heat and tap with hammer as described earlier.     This is working for me. I have a 3ft bucket fully open and supporting that end. Wider better I figure so less tendency to tip. I extend the engine hoist so it pulls tower off to the side in order for bushings to clear. Careful of hoses. I know it’s an old thread

    Thanks Harley Happy, Mine is a 580K Phase III and from all the documentation I can find the swing tower is assembled identical to a 580SK and not a 580K. But both only show a very thin washer/shim under the snap ring on the top pivot pin. No other washer/shims on upper pin. Anyone know...

    Does the lower frame pivot carry all the weight and you shim the lower to get the upper centred in the tower opening ? What does shimming the top of upper pin accomplish?

    Hi Folks, I’m wanting to tighten up the hoe on my 580K. I’ll be replacing some pins and bushings but it’s the vertical play I’m confused about. Is it the lower frame pivot that is meant to carry the weight of the hoe through the swing tower? It’s the only pin that has a Thrust Washer. Case...
