Thank you, we're pretty happy with it!

    Grizzly Trucks

I got the truck out for a short drive yesterday. Aside from a small oil leak from a loose valve cover it ran great. The driveability of the truck now after the engine overhaul is night and day better than before.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to drive it at all. I missed all the good weather we had in the fall and now the roads have been too sloppy to take it out. I'm hoping we can get a decent colder spell to dry the roads off. If they were just wet it wouldn't be a problem, I just don't want to...

    Grizzly Trucks

I brought the truck home this afternoon. Roads were a little sloppy so I didn't want to drive it too much but what a difference! It runs great and has fantastic power. I played around a little lugging it up hills and putting my foot in to it without shifting down, it drives just like a pickup...

We did put an exhaust brake on it last winter when we did the exhaust. I can't remember what make it is but the performance of it isn't that remarkable. With all the changes that have been made to the engine im hoping I'll notice an improvement with it as well.

I picked the engine up today, one step closer to getting back on the road. I can't wait to drive it and see how different it feels. Pictures are of the #6 piston, that's what was causing the ticking.

Nothing more yet than what I posted a couple weeks ago about the #6 piston and the bluing of 3 of the rods. Engine will hopefully be finished by the weekend. It'll have proper sized injectors in it, a new turbo with the right size exhaust turbine so it's going to spool quicker, 3000 rpm...

I got an update from the engine shop yesterday. The #6 piston had failed and it looked like it was stuck in the cylinder for a brief moment, most likely when the engine died and the clutch was smoked, it was definitely the cause of the ticking. On top of that, it looks like the internals of the...

Engine is out, I dropped it off at the machine shop this morning. Guy seemed quite knowledgeable about all things B-model Cummins. We won't know what's wrong inside until it's pulled apart but just by looking at it, he noticed a few things wrong with it for a pickup application. He's thinking...

Truck is going back in to the shop this week, hopefully the engine is out by next weekend. I've been referred to a machine shop in Calgary, the guy who owns it is a 12 valve wizard apparently. He's been working on them and overhauling them for over 20 years. Hopefully in a months time the truck...

The only things left after the engine are transmission and transfer case, fingers crossed they'll be good for a bit!

Thanks. It is what it is. Truck did sit quite a while, a person has to expect something to happen. I'll have some peace of mind knowing its good once it's overhauled.

I got an update today but unfortunately not the one I wanted. Oil filter has metal in it so something is going on internally. I guess it's time to start going down the road of pulling the engine and rebuilding, at least when it's done I'll know what I have.

Nothing yet. When I talked to the shop Friday afternoon they hadn't had a chance to look at it yet. They're going to pull the oil filter off hopefully first thing tomorrow and see if it's making metal, then reassess from there.

First thing we tried after the ticking started was a valve set, everything was good. It couldn't have been something easy! I'll be happy to do what it takes to fix it, we just need to figure out what that is.
