    580K stuck in 1st gear

ok, so it took me awhile but I dropped the transaxle and turned it up on its back to remove the the end plate. I found the 1st-2nd gear shifter shaft had the end plate weld broke . The price for a new one was crazy ($1264 Can.) so I cleaned it up and re-welded it, fingers crossed. I got...

    580K stuck in 1st gear

My 580K (4WD phase 3 shifter on side console) has 7500 hrs and has always needed a firm hand to engage 1st and 2nd gear but has always worked. It now is in first and the shifter moves freely (too freely) between 1st and 2nd but stays in first. If you shift to 3rd or 4th than the trans locks up...

    Leveling/Grading with front bucket

lots of great advice for you to use here, my 2 cents would be - on a TLB your cutting edge will tilt (side to side) the same amount and the at the same time as your rear wheels. so they have to be level. -take small short passes to start until you have a level pad to work from. - when sitting...

whats the best quick attach for a hammer/bucket

thats the way I would go except I was wondering about lining up the pin (either pulling it or putting back in) with the hammer laying down. otherwise the pin would be 8 ft off the ground (if the hammer was standing/hanging)

whats the best quick attach for a hammer/bucket

I operate a 350G with a GH18 npk (8500lb) hammer , the hammer is attached 95% of the time but a job has come up where a bucket is necessary. Its a pretty isolated area and I'll likely be switching attachments alone , the Salesman is pushing a manual pin grabber style but I'm saying that sliding...

whats involved with plumbing in aux hydraulics on a 580K

I would like to plumb aux hydraulics up front on my 580K (phase 3) so I can run a log grapple to load logs on a bandsaw mill. Where's the best place to tap in to the hydraulics and whats involved with plumbing in a electric over hydraulic switch in (or is that a option)? Thanks

Yikes, went to shift my 580K from 2nd to third (was stopped) and now it won't move,??

Wow Nige! That's interesting, I usually prefilled hydraulic filters when I can and always prefill fuel filters, I just thought "that was the way". What your saying makes sense I just thought that prefilling was the norm. I bet this would make for a very interesting thread on its own. Thanks for...

Yikes, went to shift my 580K from 2nd to third (was stopped) and now it won't move,??

I tried turning the rear wheels and they turn but are stiff, I disconnected the shifter linkage under the tractor and moved the shifter shafts (clamped vise grips on) and you can feel the gears engauge and even hear them. I removed the floor panel and the forward/reverse plunger linkage is good...

Yikes, went to shift my 580K from 2nd to third (was stopped) and now it won't move,??

I'm as sure as I can be, it has always needed you to be very firm with the shifter. where is the neutral switch solenoid located and is there a by-pass test.

massey ferguson external forward/reverse hyd pump

I have a chance to buy a old dozer I use to operate many years ago but the owner says it needs a new/rebuild forward/reverse hydraulic pump. It's a external pump on the side of the block(perkins) and he has made a access hole so you can get to it, he also said he had a mechanic look at it and...

Yikes, went to shift my 580K from 2nd to third (was stopped) and now it won't move,??

I have a phase 3 ser# JJG0025?96 (shifter on the side connsel), I went to shift from 2nd to third and when I put it back in forward........... nothing. now it won"t move forward or back in any gear. I'm hoping it's just the auto neutral solenoid stuck but I'm not usually that lucky.
