Hourly Rate for Medium Dozer with Operator

Get a bid on the finished job rather than an hourly rate.

    Grading with a skid steer?

Dozer to build the road then a tractor and box blade to maintain it. My SS is the handiest and most worthless tool I own. :P

    Hardfacing a TLB bucket

I've had good luck with Stoody 31 in Stick and MIG. I prefer to weld on blocks of AR plate with 7018 or just MIG it if it's clean enough. Cheaper and faster than traditional hard surfacing.

Traction tips for CTL in snow??

I have several hundred hours in the seat of a 277C pushing a 10' snow pusher doing parking lots for a local factory. I thought it worked very well but it is dead flat around here. We had a big FWA tractor for the heavy spots and used the 277 mostly for tight areas and close to the building. It...

Traction tips for CTL in snow??

I have installed 10,000's of dedicated ice screws over the years. They do occasionally fall out even when used for their intended purpose so I could only imagine they would be more prone to failure under a high load such as a SS track. Operating on hard pack snow and ice is a different animal...

Traction tips for CTL in snow??

Some of the screws WILL pull out and when they do they are guaranteed to find their way into your car tires. If using screws I like the dedicated ice screws vs. sheet metal screws.

WTB Heavy disk for land clearing

I have looked at a few but have not purchased anything. It seems like the ones for sale need some work and at $300+ per blade the repairs can add up quickly. I know where there are a couple locally and I'm trying to talk them into selling to save on some shipping. As far as price, I don't have a...

Making it so the water can run

I did a little work with a tile crew this past summer. Their plow was the same as that one and they had an 8K with some extra paddles welded to the grousers pulling it where needed. They trenched the 15" header with a 160 hoe and all of the runs were plowed. 50' spacing if I remember correctly...

WTB Heavy disk for land clearing

Looking for a large offset disk. Rome, Towner or similar. 11'-13' range but any size considered. Primarily pulled with a 280hp 4WD tractor. In need of repair is fine if the price is right. Please call or text "two one eight-six eight four-1394" Thank you.

    Labor rate, billing, random question

I run into the same situations working in my shop. It is becoming less and less common to be honest. Dealers can charge more because they are suppose to have trained mechanics and all of the specialty tools on hand. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. They charge while adding value or...

    Labor rate, billing, random question

One quick thought. If your previous employer was getting rich off of your labor, implement the same policy and get rich off of someone else's labor. Now that your are a business owner, are you sure he was really getting rich from your labor? Beyond that, good advice here so far.

    New addition to the fleet

I'll grab a plasma rather than the gas axe for that task but either would be way better than ruining expensive bits drilling dozer pads.

    New addition to the fleet

Be careful because you'll have the Challenger and scraper up for sale once that old iron is "pulling it's weight". :) Nice find.

    Pin/Bush grease interval

Usually once a day unless I'm under water or other contaminants are present. I switched to Gadus V460D grease and noticed it sticks to the pins and bushings way longer.
