    D6H Radiator removal and repair

Yes he certainly is. Just curious why you decided to tilt the nose ? I just have a feeling I'll be lancing those pins out if I go that route.

    D6H Radiator removal and repair

Looks like I'm going to have to tackle this same project on mine. Our local Cat shop (Peterson) says it can't be done without tilting the nose. Mine has a lot of bent over and worn through fins and its causing it to overheat so i;m going to go ahead and replace the most worn sections. Glad I...

Please Help Cat D8L Transmission Overheating

I don't, The 8L we have now is the only one i've been around and I don't know the part # but I'll bet somebody else does. It is easy to take apart and inspect the piston tho. You shouldn't loose but about a cup or maybe a quart of oil. No, you can't run it without, It must have a way to relieve...

Please Help Cat D8L Transmission Overheating

what the book is telling you about the location of the torque relief is wrong. Its on the back of the converter housing with the line going to the cooler coming out of it and it is a rectangle block with 2 sending units in it, easy to get off only 3, 3/8" bolt hold it on the converter and its...

Please Help Cat D8L Transmission Overheating

190 C would be 374 F. I dont think the guage on ours even goes that high ?. Ours was tripping the warning light about every hour at about 245 F. through testing with a heat gun I determined that it was the cooler. After eyeballing it I decided it would be easier to clean the cooler on the...

    D5M engine issues

Hey Nige, I'm thinking there was something wrong with the engine before it came out of the truck. The reason I say that is because how would it really afect the engine just being in the dozer ? for all it knows it could be sitting on a test stand. Could it be something as simple as timing/timing...

turning up fuel on the D8

Hey guys, the old girl is still going strong, and yes the turbo and manifold will glow red I even burned up a pair of cotten gloves from putting them on the hood just above the turbo to warm up LoL. For being a $15k machine This old girl has done as much work as a$100k machine with the only...

    Uneven rail wear D6RIII

my vote is on worn rollers. Try removing the carrier roller then run the tracks With the machine suspended and see what happens. I know around here the do alot of plowing right down the edge of the road in the bar ditch which is hell on UC as far as twisting the rails goes and making them want...

    D6H II Horsepower increase

Thank you both. The VPR contract is very complicated. I'm not trying to get d7 price out of a 6 in fact there is not set price for any size dozer. The contract is set up on a bid system "you can bid any price you want" and your bid price divided by the points added together from you dozers...

    D6H II Horsepower increase

I was just wondering if any of you guys might know if my 6H series 2 6CF5575 was the standard 165 or if it had been increased and or if the 165 is the gross or net?. I read that in the early 90's that some of them got a bump up. The reason i ask is that 165 is right on the bubble fore an...

    D11 steering clutch issues

I thaught on all of the high track clutch and brake configuration machines that the clutches and brakes were pressure released and spring applied ?. So why would you want any pressure when not turning, am I wrong ?

Anybody know why newer dozers ride so rough?

Sounds very interesting, cant wait to read it. So I took the new to me 6H out for the first time today and scratched around in the shale pit and bladed some road and all i can say is wow. It rides like a Cadillac and is a very easy to hold a grade with, very impressed so far:)
