    Rusty Storage Tanks

I bought 3 transcube/fuelcube tanks for a project from a sunbelt auction. I got a good enough deal to justify a little bit of work, but now that I have the access panels off, I'm worried they're too far gone. The tank that is completely empty has a fair amount of surface rust on the bottom and...

"Shrinking" Mini Excavator - too wide for boat

The video exaggerates it because of time of year.

"Shrinking" Mini Excavator - too wide for boat

    When you say 30, do you mean a 30HP machine? I could sell my 304 I'm sure and get a 303: https://www.cat.com/en_US/products/new/equipment/excavators/mini-excavators/108580.html

"Shrinking" Mini Excavator - too wide for boat

Not sure where you get the overloaded boat idea? Boat is rated to carry 8k. Machine will be reduced to at the very most 8k.

"Shrinking" Mini Excavator - too wide for boat

This is what I'd like to do - I'm assuming the steel cables in the tracks run the length of the track and I should be okay cutting off the outer 3" of the track? I'm comfortable risking wasting a set of tracks.

Just to give you an idea of the river:

"Shrinking" Mini Excavator - too wide for boat

Building a house in a very remote place in Idaho! I wish that landing craft in the pictures would work, but unfortunately the river is way too small (Salmon River) and way too violent for a boat like that. I bought the 304 specifically for this project, really want to make it work because if...

"Shrinking" Mini Excavator - too wide for boat

The boat will carry the excavator weight wise no problem - I'm going to take off the counter weight and the dipper and shed quite a bit.

"Shrinking" Mini Excavator - too wide for boat

I have a CAT 304e2 which is 77" wide. I have to haul it up river on a boat with a 70" ramp. I'm going to remove the blade and maybe the dipper/boom. Short of buying a smaller machine, any ideas on how I could shave off 7"? This is going to be a once, or maybe twice in it's life move, so I'm not...

    Disassembling Telehandler

I can drive down to the base of the Salmon river, opposite side. Then I'll move everything over with a heavy lift helicopter. I've got a skid steer, excavator, the small crane I mentioned, mini concrete plant and mixer, and soon a log cabin kit on the way. Unfortunately I can't drive across the...

    Disassembling Telehandler

Looking at some YouTube videos of the boom being removed - I have to image that the axles with cylinders attached weigh 1000lbs+?

    Disassembling Telehandler

I'd love to be able to place a half a yard of concrete +580lbs for the concrete bucket at 25', which from the 844's load chart looks to be right at the limit. A telehandler would be perfect for unloading from a boat as well because of the reach length.

    Disassembling Telehandler

Thanks for the info! How much do you think the counter weight weighs? Nearly impossible to find any info online - must be rare that a counterweight is replaced on these machines. I'm tempted to buy a low hour auction machine, and take it apart to see how light I can get it. I think pulling the...

    Disassembling Telehandler

Planning on two story house with a hangar, if I can get the equipment there. The tele handler will be a Godsend - I won't need a concrete pump! I do have a Broderson IC35 so I'm pretty confident I can reassemble everything without too much of a headache. Central Idaho, near Riggins.
