    I don't think they're throw-away parts. Idk I get mine from Titan Fittings. They're compatible with Parker fittings but not the same manufacturer, but I haven't had any leaks from mine yet.

    Have you looked at a distributor for hydraulic fittings? I use hydraulicsdirect.com, but there are other ones out there that carry parts from lots of manufacturers.

    I get all my hoses from hydraulicsdirect.com, but local shops are good too. Never heard of a mandrel before.

    Cleaning is probably important. You want to make sure no metal debris is floating around. Probably too late now that the change is done.
