want to build root rake using dozer cutting edges as teeth- any comments on this?

plasma cutting is reasonably cool so you won't have much of a heat affected zone, should be OK Scott welders360

    Repair Surprise

This goes without saying but I'll say it anyway. Be sure to wire wheel all of the loose rust before you start welding. Also to reduce the warpage you can clamp the part to a heavy beam and keep it clamped until you are done. If clamps don't work, tack weld a beam in place and remove it when you...

    New Browser

The nice feature that Maxthon2 has is it isolates browser tabs so if you have one that is stuck the others keep running. This means you will have far fewer browser crashes. I also like GOOGLE Chrome. It is fast and reliable. I kind of gave up on Mozzila due to the constant crashing. Scott...

Corrosion affecting payload capacity? Need advice.

The trouble with corrosion that is that extensive is that you will have very little parent material to weld to. In severe cases the metal below is so porous that it will have very little strength. My vote is to scrap the trailer while the price of steel scrap is high. Scott welders360

    Oxy/gas Torches

For versatility I would stick with Oxy/Acetylene. It is safe and easy to use, cuts clean, and readily available at any welding shop. There are economical kits available from Campbell Hausfeld and Hobart. Scott Fab Manager Welders360.com

    need suggestions

Typical paint booths have a velocity of 100 feet per minute. Any higher than this and the paint finish will be adversely affected. Much lower than this and you will be working in a cloud of over spray and the VOC's level may become dangerously high. So lets say for a moment that the paint area...

    Welding dipper and boom

v-weld Use an air arc or grinder to create a V. Be sure to clean the area well with a wire wheel before you start welding. Make your first pass with 3/32" 7018. Use 1/8" 7018 for subsequent passes.Clean the weld between each pass & keep your heat up. Scott Fab Manger Welders360.com

Common loader weld repair on Bobcat

Weld repair To ensure you get good penetration "V" out the crack with a grinder. Run a multiple pass weld with a high tensile strength rod. Then grind the plate flat and add a fish plate over top. Scott Welders360.com

    made my forks

Great idea!!!! Instead of using the solid rod perhaps a larger tube would be good. Say 2" dia. x 1/4" wall??? This would be allot stronger with the same weight. It may even be strong enough that you could use a slip fit on the plate so you could adjust the fork width. Again Cool Idea...

    boom crack

After you perform the repair as recommended by the previous posts take it one step further and add a fish plate overtop of the welded area. Use a 3/8" thick plate 8" x 8" and place it on a diagonal. Never hurts to add a little insurance. Scott www.welders360.comhttp://www.welders360.com/

    Dangers of welding wheels.

Thanks for sharing the video. Call me too safety conscious if you like but I would completely remove the tire when I weld. Yes the explosion is dangerous but so is a fire. Rubber burns like crazy once you get it started. Scott Welders360
