    I've just used the book values for lpm, auger drives usually have about a 50lpm window of acceptable flow rates.

    Doesn't look like Lantana to me. Looks more like what we call pig weed. I spent 10yrs up the Cape and don't remember seeing any pig weed, so don't know if it actually grows that far north.

    Yeah, lacing fid is basically a big needle, and as I said it wouldn't pull through being the shape it is. I didn't think it through further to a splicing fid, where it's just used to separate the rope stands. But looking at pictures online, most of the splicing fids have a big rounded end on...

Looks blacksmith made, first thought was a big lacing fid, but the step in front of the hole wouldn't pull through rope or whatever else you were pushing it through. It actually does function...

    Just thinking I've never seen an hour metre read more than 10000hrs, but if the 3 in the first white "dial" is tenths of an hour, what's the far right dial? I've also never seen an hour metre read less than tenths of an hour either.

    Got the flu, so haven't left yet. Cleaning up all the parts I removed to see if anything is worth saving, didn't really look at this when I pulled it off other than it was broken. I'm guessing even though the last readable number is white, that because there is another "dial" to the left of it...
