    Need to replace the rear transmission shaft seal on my Cat 916 loader. Anyone know how the double joint shaft is removed ? Unless the rear yoke will slip back an inch or so, this looks to me like trying to work a Rubic's Cube. Any tips appreciated and Thanks beforehand.

    Anyone know where to purchase a rebuild kit for a Caterpillar 916 loader transmission. Seems like everyone just wants to sell individual parts. Seperate kits, clutch, seals, gaskets would be ok.

    Anyone have the part num for the lift cylinders on a Cat 916 wheel loader ,id# 2xb00825. 4t8648 is the num I got but I want to make sure it's right as they made some changes in later models. Thanks in advance.

    No 1st GEAR!

    Thanks for all the good info guys. Here's what I found. When the machine is first started ,1st will engage forward and reverse and will barely move the machine.     Thanks for the info. Wouldn't the neutralizer have the same effect in all speeds? 2nd and 3rd work fine , foreard and reverse .

    I have a Cat 916 that will not take 1st gear. 2nd and 3rd are fine. While attempting to diagnose the problem you can occasionally feel it try to engage and one time it did in reverse .Cold or hot don't make any difference. All filters and fluids have been changed. Ideas ?????
